Thank you. I’m sixty eight years old and need to get up high and safely . My wife cringes when I’m on the roof , I wear a harness ‘ I know I can do it . You’re inspiring ❤

Great design. I’m 70 & need to paint my second story. Great thanks

So glad I found your video. I own a two story house and have been delaying some major home maintenance work on the roof and exterior because the commercial scaffolds are so expensive. I tried to use the extension ladder and that alone was hard for a woman to set it up against the house. I want to build a simple wood scaffold that can be assembled and dissembled by myself and this is exactly what I am looking for. Thank you so much!

Whoever wrote the OSHA not approved comment is a moron. This is a great design for small projects at home. Thanks for the videos

That moron doesn't realize scaffolds are more than OSHA approved even in the jobsite world. Maybe not this one in the video, but it's the same idea as scaffolding just on a smaller scale here.

Great design. If you made two or four 3/4/5 Triangle, that could double as a square for assembly, and as a temp support for setting up, and finally as a side brace, to keep it from tipping sideways.

Outstanding design and video. Have you considered any mechanical fasteners for the safety rails (or did I miss that)? I fear I might easily knock a safety rail loose. I suppose I could simply screw the rails on instead of notching the rail. Very nice of you to share the plans.

Thanks idol. Will build A smaller version of this as an indoor scaffold. For ceiling panels and door single man installations.

Great design and nicely built, I think that I would use hex head bolts (not coach bolts) and large square washers at bolt head and nut end to stop biting into the timber on each assembly, also stronger surface area. I would fit outboard legs for safety and stability at least a third of the way up but I am sure that you would have done this anyway. Cheers.

Thanks for the feedback. Definitely you have some great insights. The structure definitely needs support arms, particularly when fully extended. I didn’t go into this aspect during the video. However I adapted various strategies depending on the available space in the area I was putting it up. Suffice to say you need something.

Do you have instructions and specs to build one of these. I would like to build one for painting the interior/exterior of a 2 story home
@diycave51443 жыл бұрын
Hi Luis There are 2 videos the first video looks at how to make it and the specifications are discussed in it. However I have not made any working plans. Just some rough sketches on paper and a quick design in SketchUp. But I show these in the first video. The scaffold is made of two parts. The first part is 10’ and the second part is 6’. I’m planning on some jobs around my house where these smaller scaffolds will he needed, but I want to put some wheels on it. I want to design it so I can easily put them on and off. Whilst I’m doing this I will put together a plan for the rest of the scaffold.let you know when it’s done

@@diycave5144 I was just thinking to myself while watching your videos, "Wow, but what if it had locking Wheels?".

The notches in those cross rails could break along the grain very easily I would think.😢

Well done! You thought the design out nicely. I especially liked the trap door. How much was the cost to create the scaffolding? Have you thought about leveling and wheels for easier movement without having to dismantle? Thank you. I enjoyed the video and the details. Also it looks to be about 6 ft in 2 sections right; or 12 ft high total? What is the width you used, 8 ft? Thank you

About how much weight would hold safely , I'm 150 kgs .Top of my roof 3.3 m & looking for something sturdy , without standing on the rungs of a ladder. This would suit my needs on a future project .Well done !
@diycave51443 жыл бұрын
It’s strong and it works fine for me @ 80 kg. However I have no way of determining it’s weight rating. There is a cantilever effect when you are on the top deck, especially if you stretch out of the scaffold. It’s important it’s on flat ground and its adequately propped with brace’s to ensure it won’t fall in either direction. I might do a another video on this as it’s a pretty important safety aspect.

@@diycave5144 ok , thanks ! My interest is constructing a small scale American Barn style building . Your scaffolding idea looks promising .Not long to full summer , Time to burn off winter fat. Instead of the notched runs going on the inside where the platform would go . place runs where you put the bracing . That way they become locked in , like the diagonal bracing .The only change i would make.

The DIY is nice, But maybe you can try our scaffoldings's machines, that's really high efficiency .
@robertlesnjak8613 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael the total cost was about AUD$200. The width of the scaffold is about 5 feet. There is another more comprehensive build video on my channel which will give you some more details.

He cheated. I liked all the way up to the final reveal when it shows that you anchored the whole rig to the fence post anchored in concrete! Now I have no confidence that this design is all that good because that fence won't be there. Disappointing.

Just a few comments which I hope are helpful. I am retired structural engineer who specialized in temporary construction structures. At present, I am building wood scaffolding around my own house so I am familiar with the challenges. First- very nice build- very practical, given that one man can build and assemble it safely. Secondly, you are right to stress that among the most important issues, are (a) the structure's stability on the ground, preferably staked if practical, and (b) its being braced against "sideway" (horizontal movement) by connecting it to an existing fixed structure- i.e. the house- the fence, etc. Finally, regarding the comment that "it wouldn't work in America because its Not OSHA approved"- This is not the case--per my experience, and directly from their website - OSHA does not have any regulations that apply to residential properties, however, OSHA does have regulations that apply to the safety and health of employees while engaged in construction operations, of all types, including residential. OSHA is there to protect employees- so if no employees, (i.e. homeowner or one-man owner/contractor) OSHA does not have jurisdiction.
@trickyricky121476 ай бұрын
Everything checks out that you have stated. Why did you feel the need to cross off your explanation that Osha does not have jurisdiction on residential properties, except during residential construction carried out by employees? That is exactly correct on their limitations as far as jurisdictions go. No?

How much do you think that would cost? Even at today's prices this set up would cost less than $400 then you can take as long as you like to do the work on your house.

@boots78593 жыл бұрын
Don't be a dunce. This is not something that would require OSHA-anything, as it would be for homeowners use. Majority of stuff people do in America is not OSHA-Approved, nor should it be.

@boots7859 Haha you put him in his place. 💯😎💪That dunce who doesn't even know how our own laws apply and how jurisdiction works is the reason why we have other countries and Europeans calling us stupid.
