I really like the fact that the friends are really supportive despite the fact Sayaka became the odd one out within the group -- she's the only one who wanted to enter university, she changed her style, she spent time studying when hanging out. True friends there.

@@shaykso Medically speaking, you are correct. And for the terms in OP's comment, I can agree with that tiny correction. However, was it necessary to phrase it like that? It sounds too aggressive. Everyone's talking about the friends and teacher but what about the mother? She worked double time for the money and was always there for her daughter no matter what she did and even stood up to the father for being so horrible. She was also so persistent in making sure her daughter stayed in school and reaches her highest potential. That's a stellar mom right there Edit : A lot of people are saying that it's a mother's duty and there's no point in me asking to recognise it, because friends in movies don't usually stay by the MC's side, most of the time the popular type. The same towards the teacher, because many teachers get portrayed as a tired, underpaid, toxic person. I recognise all of them, but I can see people talking about them in the comments already. They're appreciated by a lot of people, but I literally haven't seen anyone talking about the mom. That's why I brought her up. I do see that almost everyone on the MC's side is great and supportive, I'm just talking about the underrated one. Edit : Also, thank you for all the likes 😊. It's my first time getting so many

at university our multiple choice exams had the rule that for every wrong answer, you would get a point deducted, to deter us from guessing. if you'd just guess you'd have a 25% chance to get a question right, meaning you'd be likely to end up with -50 points when you'd need 50 to pass.

I had a teacher like this in middle school. she'd always try to motivate the lower level students by coming up with crazy dares. none of them were dumb but just like sayaka they didn't study and only cared about games and hanging out with friends. she made a bet with the lowest scoring student that she would get a nose piercing if he could get all A's for his last semester as it was his last year and he would be going to high school next term. this would then set him up to be ready for the first year of high school because he'd know all the material and have a good foundation. needless to say, the kid did it. he went from all F's to all A's in 3 months and our teacher had to get her nose pierced xD

Man, it seems so long ago, when something so similar happened to me. 10 years ago I made a bet with students that I would run through the atrium of the high school naked if all of them scored a minimum of 85% on their final exam. I knew at least half of the students were either failing or barely passing each of their previous tests. So I felt this was an easy way to try and motivate them them all to get passing grades, while still feeling VERY confident that most of them still wouldn’t score higher than a 65%. Well they all started studying like crazy together in study groups that they planned at each other’s houses almost every day after school ( while being unknown to me) and to my complete shock, I felt extremely proud that the lowest score of the final exam was a 87%. But then my pride quickly turned to horror when I remembered the bet I made. But I didn’t want to let all my students down and make them feel like they couldn’t ever trust their own teachers. So I made good on my promise, and I streaked through the school atrium at 8:00am when just about half if not more of the schools students were all hanging around in that part of the school each morning. Long story short, my students were extremely shocked when I held up my end of the bargain, but we’re happy I didn’t lie to them. And then the next day police were waiting for me in the office because one of the students parents called the police and the school board. I was fired from my position as a high school teacher after 8 years. And was sentenced to 12 months in jail, and I had a restraining order not allowing me to be within 100 meters of any school because I was registered as a sex offender! Moral of the story. Don’t make any bet that requires you to be naked around anyone under 18! P.S. This entire story was as a joke. I am not, nor have I ever been a teacher, or a sex offender! Thanks lol

I was tearing up when she got accepted. I'm sure many people understand, but trying to get into University while still figuring out what the world even is, struggling to be "good enough" while still trying to not fall into a pitfall such as alcohol or hanging out with the wrong crowd, countless nights of studying and then going to school to also compete in athletics, or seeing friends do the same but working a part-time job because the family doesn't make enough, etc. Even in this recap, it brought back a lot of memories. I'm graduating a bit late this Fall, but I'm graduating University. I'm sure it's easier for some and harder for others, but in the end it was not an easy path. For those trying to get into University, don't give up. Keep trying your best, and I promise you the worst possible outcome is you don't get into a University, but who honestly cares. You learn more about yourself, who you are and what you can do by "properly" trying your best, while also learning quite a bit about what it means to get a degree from a respectable University. More than likely though, if you really are trying your absolute best, I'm sure you'll get into your 1st choice, and if you don't I'm sure your 2nd or 3rd choices will accept you. There are a LOT of amazing Universities out there, so just because you don't get into the #1 University, doesn't mean that #2 is terrible, and in my experience, the #2 choice ended up being far better than the #1. Good Luck everybody! - 06/22/2022, by Kevin (putting this here because I find it endearing to think about KZbin still being a thing in a hundred years, and that one person reading this left by me) also: 11:56 is just amazing ;)

When my mom got better and got to look at my school grades she look for the school to ask why nobody thought of reaching her to talk about the absences and fall on my grades, the principal told her that they didn't had time to deal with problematic children. My mom changed me of schools and I got back on track. But really is a shame how schools see children like cash cows and nothing more.

I also love how this story shows how much of an impact teachers can have on their students. Now in college I realized how much I hated English classes for a while because of my teacher but how another teacher helped me rediscover my love for it. Some of my classes where I was bad at were taught by teachers who liked to knock us students down or were just awful people. But the clases where I excelled at were taught by teachers that I will always remember kindly till this day. So an that note, to all the good teachers out there. You are doing an amazing job and we students are thankful for your impact on our lives. To all the bad teachers: You have probably made our lives hell and whether sth good or bad came out of it is for each individual to decide. But for me. I want to thank you for being a wonderful example on what kind of a person I don't want to be in the future.

This reminds me of my PHYSICS TEACHER who believed in me... That I can do better, In high school I scored 37/100 in Physics... But after 6 months of hard work and dedication I scored 97/100.....and Now I am in Top Most college in India.

To get 0 on a test, if it's an American test, it's very hard, but at least here in Portugal most questions are sentence questions, u can just chose "C" u need to give it a proper answer

We are talking about an actual test, not a multiple choice quiz. It easy to get e zero when you have to write full sentence answers

I watched this movie with my mom about a year ago and I remember talking about how good of a teacher Tsubota is. A teacher who is passionate in teaching their students and actually cares about their success. If we had more teachers like him, I bet a lot of people who are struggling to be successful in school can achieve their dreams.

I had a teacher who once told us that if we got a 0% on the test then she would give us a 100% because you knew all the right answers and purposefully did not fill them out. Ofc if u got a single question correct then you got the grade u deserved lol

This is actually a very motivational video. You see, when Sayaka was down with no motivation at all to pass the exams, there was a tutor called Tsubota. He motivated her all the way while supporting and teaching Sayaka whatever she needs. He never gave up even though Sayaka failed the mock tests, but he believed she had a chance. Same goes to us in real life, we all need a tutor/friend/accompany like him in our life. And most importantly, we should never give up even though we feel like we're out of time. While there's time, there's chance. We need to be focused and motivated in every task we do.

as a student considered Gifted by their school bored but has only ever Avraged a D or C and is only now working harder for better marks this hits different when you've been a student that can barely figure out simple exponents but work hard only to see that you failed the test, those high marks like 97's mean so much more. So after finishing the last few minutes of the video and crying for 15 minutes this is honestly going to become my favorite movie

The difficulty is miniscule compared to the average universities in Korea. And even more so if you're a foreigner in japan. Ironically, it's harder for native nationals to enter their own universities

I'm really glad all the people in her life were cheering her on throughout her entire journey, especially her friends - they didn't scrutinize her or leave her out of hangouts just because she was studying the whole time she was there. They are her true day 1s.
