Aoi was laying some fresh flowers on Yuto’s grave. while she was praying another person appeared and it was Sosuke with a bunch of flowers as well. They had a stilted mini-conversation and then Aoi said she was going. As she was walking away, Sosuke shouted if she wanted to go get something to eat. And that's how the movie ended. Ahhh So the government program works. Yuto was not paired with Aoi to begin with because he was not healthy. And Sosuke remained interested in her.

I still low-key feel bad for Sosuke, like he developed so much for Aoi but wasn't able to get her in the end. And do be fair this ending wasn't really surprising, cause it was kinda obvious from the start that Aoi will end up falling for Yuto. It's a pretty cliche love story. It would've been more surprising if she had feelings for Sosuke till the end and ended up marrying him. Like even if they showed that Aoi only liked Yuto as a friend and Yuto ended up getting over her, it still would've been great and not cliche.

A few issues with this system: 1. If everyone is assigned their partner when they turn 16, then they can only be matched with someone who shares their birthday. Not much science when it's going to be from a relatively little pool of people, so the best candidate for both is extremely unlikely to be each other. 2. If the system truly analyses people to determine their most compatible partner, failed dates and a situation like Aoi's where she loses hope should never occur. If they do, clearly they're not the most compatible partner. If the argument is, "it's her problem, analysis suggests no matter who she is with, this will occur," then why have the system determine it, if it will happen anyway? If this can happen to one person, it can happen to many, making the system imperfect, so I highly doubt the statistics of its success. If she is one anomaly among millions, she should simply be left out, simply to reduce the failure rate of the system, since there's no point of applying the system on her. The system could be improved to make it a lot better. Don't force people onto it. Have everyone analysed, but only those who have signed up to be matched are matched. They can choose to find a match any time, and the system will find their best match from everyone who is registered. The system then tells them whether their match is the perfect match among everyone analysed, and they can register their interest, but no information of the other person is shown. If the other person also seeks a match, and they also register interest, then both parties are informed, information is provided and things can be arranged from their. If either party does not register interest, nothing will happen. This will let people wait for their perfect match before registering their interest. However, if don't want to wait, and their perfect match doesn't register and match, the person can register to match with their next best match. People should also be frequently analysed and the matching is updated so that if someone changes, the matching changes with it, i.e. if you were matched with an innocent person just like yourself, but they don't register interest, and when they do register interest, they are now a drug addict, but you haven't changed, this match has been altered. This makes the matching system a recommendation for the best results, and it will be a lot more appealing, while still giving people the freedom to not be matched like that. This isn't an original idea, it's adapted from Psycho Pass and elaborated on, but the point is, it can be much better without the above flaws.

Well this show is most likely based off the manga/anime also titled "Koi to Uso" (Love and lies) and has a different plot, story, and ending. Also the guy is the Main character and he gets paired with his crush who also likes him.. mysteriously though he immediately gets paired with someone else afterwards like a glitch in the matrix and confusion ensues. Eventually he falls in love with the girl he was paired with and doesn't know what to do as his initial love also likes him. Overall a better story. 1. In the manga even though you get your match at 16 the person you get may be older or younger by a couple years. You don't know until you get it, and if they are younger you have to wait until they are older to meet. It was all determined by supposed traits, genetics, etc. (sciencey stuff) 2. Just because it's a perfect match doesn't mean people like the process and initially things are awkward / don't seem to work out. Just like normal dating. However, unlike normal dating it was stated eventually all the pairs do end up falling for each other and are all perfectly happy. so it has an extremely high success rate It is after all a perfect fantasy universe where love is a scientific process.

If anyone is interested in the anime of this, it has a completely different story. The girl was already 16 and still hadn't gotten a partner yet and the guy was the main character. On the night he turned 16 they also met at a park where one of them confesses and then it's interrupted with the guy getting his match and it was luckily the girl with him but then it glitches out and replaces her name with someone else. He meets the other girl and it's someone who has no idea was love is so she lets the two date so she can understand what it means to like someone which becomes a really weird situation where one of the conditions for their arrangement is that they have to make out every day. Later on, it's also revealed that the guy's best friend who is another guy also loves him and when the mc is sleeping in a classroom alone he plants a kiss on him but I don't think that love story goes anywhere else.

Hey, love your recaps. It's just that it's the second Japanese movie you've recapped with a main character named "Aoi" and I have to mention that it's pronounced "Ahh-Ohh-Eee", not "Ey-oh-ey". Japanese vowels are always pronounced one way so "A" will always be pronounced as "Ahh" as in the last "a" in "candelabra" (or the "a" in "Yuta" which you pronounced just fine) and never "Ey" or the "Ah" in "apple". Similarly, the "i" in "Aoi" will always sound like "eee" regardless of the word it's used in.

I believe this is just based off the manga/anime "Koi to USO" (Love and Lies) as it has the same name. They call the process "The red string of science" instead of the "Red string of fate". It has a different plot, guy is the main character, and the ending is different. Manga ending is better imo as the anime changed stuff to end after 1 season. Anime has one of the catchiest openings though called "KANASHII URESHII". Give it a listen.

the plot of this movie is super similar to the Matched trilogy by Ally Condie. if you guys ever get to read at least the first book defidentially do it. im a couple chapters away from finishing the last book and i am HOOKED

some notes: in the original source(manga/lightnovel/anime), 16 is the starting rate, you are not immediately married at 16, rather have a chance of getting married starting from 16. the plot was that at first they were paired at first, but then another girl got paired to him, then he fell in love with that girl, but the first girl still loved him and it's a whole complicated thing.
