Is there any update on this? So that musicians using android phones can finally produce music properly.

Nearly 3 and half years later, I wonder how much has the gap been narrowed between iOS and Android, I look at garage band on a simple iPad and I'm wondering when will Android be nearly as low latency as Apple? Anyone please just reply to this comment.... ☺

I have audio data in Java which I want to be played instantly. I also want to get the output latency from Oboe. The FAQ says passing data from Java to Oboe is not a good idea. Please advise what I should do.

I have two questions Should I use Oboe instead of exoplayer and Media Player for Audio? Why do I have to write C++?
@donturner19285 жыл бұрын
1) Use Oboe if you're working with real-time audio i.e. processing or creating sounds in response to some real-time input like touch, microphone or (in this talk) accelerometer data. If you just want to stream pre-recorded audio data then ExoPlayer is an excellent choice. 2) Unlike Java, C++ isn't a garbage collected language (you need to do your own memory management), this is preferable in real-time apps because you know the GC won't block your real-time thread.

@@donturner1928 Oboe or ExoPlayer for a drum machine with audio samples ? Just to play and stop rhythms, no need input to trigger samples
