Absolutely beautiful! That 2nd time lapse with the plow was AMAZING! Question, with the slider slowly moving, do you not get some motion blur like if the slider is moving mid shot on the camera?
@nightscapeimages.richard2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for watching Mary. I get asked this question a lot. As you can see the images are very clean. It's a very slow movement and the time frame is long. I'd say our brains are not registering the movement. Also by using an ultra wide lens it helps . .although I used the 35mm lens on the trike and it's also clean. It often comes down to accurate focus as much as anything else. I made sure my focus was on the plough and trike for example.
@dhg19602 жыл бұрын

Really enjoying this series, and I love the timelapses. One thing I'm unclear on is how are the images not blurry when you set the slider to do its own thing whilst the camera does the interval? I was expecting the stars and the subject to be slightly blurry, but they were razor sharp!!
@nightscapeimages.richard2 жыл бұрын
Thanks a lot Simon. Yes this is something I get asked a lot. The movement is very slow but obviously the camera is moving during the loong exposure . .I guess the movement isn't long enough to register with out brain. Also, perhaps a higher megapixel camera would show the movement more.

Absolutely stunning time lapse clips, do you tend to shoot long enough for a 10 second clip?
@nightscapeimages.richard2 жыл бұрын
Hey Alasdair. It depends on the lens I'm using. The 35mm f1.8 I need to keep the shutter speed to 10 seconds. I'll go to 15 seconds usually with the 15mm or 20mm lenses. At a pinch perhaps 20 sec. I find that with timelapse the small star trails are not noticeable.
@amacmedia32212 жыл бұрын
@@nightscapeimages.richard thanks Richard, I’ll definitely be trying some more time lapse with lights in the future
@gregr53032 жыл бұрын
Inspiring stuff as always Richard, and stunning results. I often find myself having to put old tshirts, cloth or anything else on hand to reduce light output for LLL 😏, thanks for sharing your similar experience. Quick newbie question with respect to timelapse... So the slider is continually moving while you are taking 10s exposures. Is the movement so small that it doesn't affect the image sharpness?
@nightscapeimages.richard2 жыл бұрын
In a nutshell ... yes. The movement is very slow and even at 35mm it works quite well. Remember this is over a 3-1/2 hour slide. If the slide was faster then obviously the movement would show. You can do the move shoot move style of timelapse but then the slider is controlling the camera and there are quite a few occasions where I want the camera to control the timelapse. I do have a Zeapon made trigger which will be useful for this type of sequence. . but it won't let me shoot with electronic shutter . .which I like to do. However I'll use it in future videos.

Hi Richard, you have just talked me into buying a Zepon micro 2 plus. But 1 thing i don't understand is how you shoot 10sec exposures while the slide is continuously moving. Wouldn't this make the image blurry doing a long exposure and the slide moving? I can't wait to get out and try these times lapses myself. Thanks for the great content!
@nightscapeimages.richard2 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching the video. The key is to have a long slide over an extended period of time. I generally wouldn't use that technique under about 3 hours of shooting time. The movement over 3 hours or so is very insignificant and as you can see from my example. . not enough to cause motion blur at all. If I was going to do a shorter time span for my timelapse then I'd have to revert back to the standard move-shoot-move method. The main reason I like to use this method is to take advantage of the brilliant in-built intervalometer in the Nikon Z6 cameras. Hope that helps.
