Nice video. Looking for update. My lly duramax needs to come out also for oil pressure issue and now smoking before I could make it home. Do you have more updates on build?

As of today 6/21/22 no new video. I’ve since pulled the transmission, transfer case exhaust, and drive line. Going for a complete rebuild on everything. Tons of footage. A follow up video soon I hope.

Hey bud I have the same deal. 03 lq4 6.0 with low oil 20 lbs cold start. No tick or sound any where, engine sounfs strong. Replaced o ring, oil pump, and water pump while I was there. Same oil pressure, did your engine make any ticks or bearing squealing? I hope it isn't a bearing.

Dropped pressure and the top end started starving for oil. Ticking on the rockers started. All good for several days until a full pressure drop happened. Then it all went sideways. Check the new video coming out soon with the rebuild.

dowel pins holding engine in is never an issue you simply used wrong tool and method .. you wedge a long pry bar and simply pop it apart the wiggle and heat method ? is like tossing a snowball into a raging forest fire to put it out.

last video i said pull the mains and bearing caps to inspect them before ordering parts .. in your case the bearing might have actually looked ok and it would have been ok to order the pump and install because you would not have caught the spun cam bearing.. this would have bit a professional mechanic in the ass as well but trying to convince someone to also remove the cam prior to inspect the cam bearings with a bore scope? would have been a lot more labor but in hindsight I would include that in any failed oil pump scenario unless access to pump is easy and a hail mary. good news is if you get a junkyard motor swap out the new parts and inspect it. (make sure will not void warranty)

I appreciate all your feedback. It was a ass kicked for anyone to nail the spun cam bearing but I went for what made the most sense for me. Still this would have been a hard call for most mechanics. I went for my best play. Rest assured this bad boy is looking good. Vids to follow soon as it’s sitting in the shop

Any updates on this?

Soon not yet. Block has been completely machined over. Decked, bored over 10, polished crank, etc. all parts are ready to go in. New cam, rings, forged pistons, rods, new timing set, lifters, etc. Heads have been dialed in with new springs, valves, rockers upgraded etc. I will be assembling all of it with videos to follow as soon as I get it all back in the shop. Also the transmission is being completely performance rebuilt. Hoping to get a video out soon explaining all my ups and downs with the machine shop. Then videos of me putting it all together to fire up. That’s the plan. It’s been a long road and look forward to sharing things when I have it all back in the shop.
