Love me a good Ape build! Nice one mate, low pass filters are super handy

Dang that's a lot of toroid wrapping! Nice solder work.

Its quite possible that the capacitors are not NP0/C0G especially if values are above 100pF. The rolloff or -3 dB point droops with inferior capacitors. NP0 COG either have a black mark on top of have NP0 C0G marked on the capacitor
@TheSmokinApe2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I suspect something is going on with them. Also, out would be nice if I could find the values for the inductors so I could check them with the meter.
@MakeDoAndMend12 жыл бұрын
I found with mine. For each band I swopped over the windings. For example the toroid with most windings was soldered into board where the least windings etc. Works perfectly on correct freq. I will do a vidd soon. Cheers from old George

I dig your builds! I need a CB band stop filter for 10 meters lol. I get all kinds of artifacts on the SDR, the yaesu is better. There's probably some big power CBers in my area.

Hi Ape! Enjoyed this! At 17:15 you say you have the filter set for 20 MHz. How? Perhaps related to the positions of the two switches? Not sure what the switches do - add/remove capacitors/inductors to the circuit? When happy with the tuning of the filter, where do you add it to your rig? I expect you might want to put it in a box to protect the circuitry also? Shape of filter looks kind of like a lower order Butterworth, but I guess the kit didn't come with that info. Thank you for the edumacation and your patience. KK7JBZ

Hey John. Yes, the switches on the side change frequency by routing the RF through different capacitor / toroid configurations. I do want to see if I can get a 3d print to house it.

Aug 2023 any way to block ham radio interferrnces on tv ????
@TheSmokinApe Жыл бұрын
Are you talking about the transmitted signal causing problems or RFI? First I would check to see if the radio is producing harmonics and then I would install RFI chokes at both end of the coax. Good luck, problems like this are a bitch.
