The real conspiracy with social media is not the post dates, but with the lack of page numbers. In the 2000s, popular sites actually had page numbers for posts and comments. You used to be able to "jump to" an older era in youtube comments by going to whatever page you wanted. But now, nothing has navigatable pages; it's just a button to show a little more, and you keep pressing it until you get bored. Everything is now designed as an endless scroll.

there were essentially two kinds of mirrors, which were both very expensive: silver-backed mirrors (the kind that vampires can't see themself in, since silver is/was a holy metal) and mercury backed mirrors. My conspiracy is similar to the video that while you’re on hold with a customer service agent they can still hear all the sht you’re saying to those around you. @krisztinakovacs44448 ай бұрын

I used to do WFH customer service and… it depends. Some places, yeah, we could hear you no matter what. Other places, we had different “types” of hold where one type we could hear you (so we (well, our shift lead) could live listen in and monitor if you were getting annoyed), and some where we couldn’t so that we could concentrate/talk to our supervisor. It just depends on the system the place is using. Granted, this was around 10 years ago, they may have changed things since then. Systems were always getting replaced and shit, which would be really annoying. Usually when an agent seems like they’re really out of sorts, either they’re new or the company decided to spring a new phone system/wiki/etc on them at the start of their shift with no warning.

when I was a child, my mum and I would live part time at my gran's (my mum's mum) house while my father stayed at our house as it had partially fallen down and building work had taken over the house. we live in rural England in a tiny town, but she lived in a tiny village about an hour away (in the same house my mum grew up in). we not only had a milkman, we also had a mobile library van there because there was no library for miles. every two weeks, a van would come and stop at various places throughout the village and you could go in and look at a selection of books and then return the ones you borrowed from last time. the day it came was always my absolute favourite, I was so excited even if I had eventually borrowed all of the children's books in their rotation. this was late 90s - early 00s. Agsjahsjahajaha 12:58 as someone who works in chat customer service, at least I don't see what customers are typing, thank God lol. What we do is we work with templates/drafts, and we have them ready according to what we think the customer is going to say (modifying them a little bit if needed), because we have handled a lot of cases that are similar. We might make mistakes so when we mess up, we can end up sending replies before the customer does, or telling them something unrelated to their case if we're talking to someone else at the same time. Some of us have to talk to 4 or 5 people at the same time and people are impatient, so having templates is very practical and it helps us handle everything on time. That theory is funny, though, haha.

I used to be a chat customer service rep and I absolutely could not see people's messages as they were typing them. I couldn't even see if/when/that they were typing on the program we used, which was frustrating, because I didn't know if they were still there. I'm sure that varies by the software, but if they can see it, it's not all of them.
@Max.Paprika7 ай бұрын
Customer service can indeed see what you're typing before you send it. I've had talks with two chat service providers, and they admit it's an option they allow. I've tried convincing them it's horrible for the end user, as sometime could easily paste a password or credit card number or embarrassing message into the chat, then delete it without sending it, but the other person's already seen it. They don't care; they're making money and the end user is the last thing they want to worry about.

@Polyeurythane8 ай бұрын
Ironic considering I actually deeply like the Avatar movies. Though I would be lying if I said there were no flaws and that the storylines were perfect, and that the second movie didn’t feel like a middle movie (it really did). Though I do think part of the excessive love for it is because of the appreciation for actually creating the world building and the extensive process of creating the flora and fauna to make it feel like the characters are on a different planet. One of the other reasons is because a Twitter user tried to cancel Avatar 2 because of the actors committing “blueface”, which I found hilarious. (the context is because James Cameron said that he based the story of the Navi off of the Lakota struggle against colonialism, and because the actors were white some indigenous people considered it appropriation aka blueface, even though the movies literally make the Navi badass and beating the obviously evil American military and they clearly didn’t know what appropriation actually is)

It's no coincidence James Cameron has 3 of the top 5 highest grossing movies of all time and one of them was made nearly 30 years ago. Still crazy how much they make with those movies as someone who isn't a big fan of the franchise (other than the CGI), it is impressive.

If you've ever left the milk out over night after a late night bowl of cereal; you know how quickly it develops an odd taste. 4:10 My impression on this: Some sites and stuff show how much time has passed in weeks instead of the usual months or years. There are 52 weeks in a year, and for people who have a harder time processing numbers, like people with dyscalculia, will get confused by this. Same thing goes for people who completely believe their impression of something is always the truth and then easily dismiss it all later on to save their own skin if someone challenges their view on it. Or people who think everyone in power are always right. It can get really dangerous depending on what road we as society will take. That's what's unsettling about it.

Here where I live in NC, part of the driving test they have I've been told is on a route that has a roundabout on it. Never noticed that about KY, but I will say that they have great chicken, but their jelly tastes terrible... Had a job doing Customer Service via text, and yes, you CAN see what the customer is typing as they type it! Love your channel "Trent"! Got a new subscriber here!

Can confirm. The customer service can see your typing. I've been on the other end. We were told to be careful not to respond before the customer hit send. Don't know why the chat services work like that.

Holding a ladder from underneath is actually much safer. When they would siege castle, they would have someone that on the underside of the ladder so that the defenders couldn't push the top of the ladder away.

As someone who worked at Starbucks for a year - it does not get boring often. You will usually have the most fun coworkers at Starbucks (or any coffee shop), if the place is slow you can just experiment w drinks or quickly shove a cake pop in your mouth (allegedly), and if it’s not slow it’s going too fast for you to get bored

Actually milkmen is a really nice concept In many parts of Germany we still have like bakers that drive or walk around with a literal basket full of bread and pretzels. Right now we have a guy that’s actually allowed in our restaurant because it’s very oldschool and authentically local and shit like that. In my ex gfs neighborhood people would hang a plastic bag or smth similar on their doorknob, in it would be a list with stuff you want and money, and the baker dude would fill it up and apparently nothing ever gets stolen. The freshness of the products is actually next level. Like a glass of milk that was 50 min ago still in a cow, that tastes like different my man So all in all very nice concept

I like the theory that Disney named a movie Frozen so that people would have a harder time finding the conspiracy theories about Walt's frozen body when they google "Disney frozen"

I went to watch the first James Cameron Avatar in cinema since it was the first proper 3D movie. The effects blew my mind and I was so invested I cried when Hometree fell. But in the end it was basically Fern Gully in Space. The second Avatar felt lacking.

Walking under ladders does mean bad luck. it directly implies a low standard of safety in the work environment, meaning a high rate of chances of accidents, meaning a raised rate of accidents, meaning generally "poor luck".

it’s kinda crazy, as a guy who doesn’t watch movies like at all and never has, i felt the exact same about avatar, that i had to watch it

My sister-in-law and her husband are DIEHARD Avatar fans. If it ever comes up, all we hear about is that they saw it like three times in the theater and how my sister-in-law loves the color blue, cats, and dragons, so naturally it is the move for her. I watched both of them and first of all, I think the second one was the same story as the first one, and second, Yep, fun movie, I guess, but not worth seeing multiple times. And can I just say "unobtainium?"

My low-stake conspiracy theory is that pants manufacturers always make the crotch on your pants super weak on purpose. If your pants rip at the knee or near the ankle, whatever. You'll still wear them. But if they rip in the crotch? That's embarrassing and you're going to have to drop another $50 to get a new pair.

I think people forget that a big draw of Avatar when it came out was it was the first movie to really use 3D in a serious and cinematic way instead of juT a gimmick way. It was carried that imo.

The T-minus one I believe is because the computers used at the time had timers that you could input the time in seconds into, and so, they would state the commands as follows, so the commander would say “T Minus 10, 9, 8, etc.” to keep everyone on track.

@14:20 - Starbucks employees are sometimes told to be “Creative” with spellings, because the company knows that most people will take and post a picture of their “creatively spelled name”, thus giving the company free, harmless, advertising.
