I love the Moon because it acts as a mirror of sorts. Like yeah it's a lot smaller than Earth and it's essentially a barren wasteland, but it's just another rock in space; just like us. We're also on a rock that's floating through an endless dark void. It's an extremely eye opening thought.

The podcast bros failed to mention that while there are indeed no nails on the stairs (not including the handrails which were added later by a known carpenter), the stairs were made using a peg system. Very unusual, but not impossible, just an incredible masterpiece considering the time period and location of the work.

100% agree - pictures of "bigfoot" and "alien lights" from 20-30 years ago, we can excuse them for being blurry and out of focus and things like that. these days kids have toy cameras that autofocus and we have phones that would have been called super computers in those days. if you cant get a clear in focus picture of an immobile "alien corpse" - try again! :D - and THEN send it to a real science lab for testing etc. also send a copy to Greg! fun times - happy new year!

The cave one probably matches a map of the US population. Probably most cave systems we know of that have been mapped out are in areas with higher populations, and most people would also go missing in higher population areas as well.

16:39 I looked up the Mexican symbols. The Aztec relief is depicting the god Quetzalcoatl, explaining the snake. The Olmec carving is a guy playing that ball game shown in "Road to El Dorado" so it is likely a depiction of one of the brothers from the story of the Popol Vuh. The Popol Vuh has a part where two brothers go to avenge their father's death, and play ball with the lord of the underworld.

I mean, at least in the case of south dakota, that little chunk you pointed out includes the badlands (and black hills) which is a very extreme climate and mountainous area, but people like to hike there a lot. So I wonder if this map can be partly explained by caves being more common where there are mountains/extreme terrain and climate, making it more likely for hikers to go missing and perish. If you look up a map of US mountain ranges, it lines up pretty well too. correlation and causation blah blah blah

Yeah I was gonna say, most of the eastern strip covers the Appalachian mountains, which are super popular for hiking/camping and can also be somewhat dangerous

1. That. Caves are the most common in the mountains. 2. Both maps' data points are cherrypicked, ESPECIALLY the top one. The top one is basically just pins a person put in the map to do that very photo, real cases heatmap looks nothing alike.

In regards to the staircase, I have a theory. There’s this style of Japanese carpentry called sashimono, if I’m not mistaken, that uses no nails, but instead cleverly fitted together pieces. I don’t know much about it, but I saw a video on it a while back and it looked pretty cool.

Love the instant change from “aw!“ to “oh” in the kiwi video lol. Also for the caves and disappearances map, I think the explanation is that many cave systems are also within national parks, which are places you kinda would expect people to go missing, via getting lost or having a hiking accident or what have you

19:25 Those are literally just stars or galaxies. Probably galaxies. The photos taken on the moon are notorious for not showing any stars, but that's because their cameras are shit and literally could not really process them. It also has to do with the fact that you're on the light side of the moon, and the moon has little atmosphere.

The story about the Loretto Chapel is a little exaggerated. It is a masterful work of carpentry, and it's really impressive that a single person could build that in the 1800s, but it's not inexplicable. There are also records which suggest that the identity of the carpenter was recorded and that he was paid for materials, but the details of the actual construction are not known. It is not an exaggeration to say that the stairs are a miracle, though, because someone found a crazy solution to a crazy problem and the chapel got a lot of benefit out of it.

omg the kiwi video is so adorable so the thing abt the "all these carvings from all over the world are of the same thing but the cultures werent in contact aahh" is a popular conspiracy theory rooted in some real bizarre hmmmm specialty ww2 era german ideology shall we say anyway, it's bc humans all saw other humans and vaguely the same animals and we were like wow let's make art of those animals and stuff. so we did. like carvings of big people. it's really easy to creatively come up with the concept of 'person but big.' i'm CERTAIN one could individually find the sources for each of those carvings and have real archaeologists explain what context they were in (CONTEXT! IS KEY!!! it is impossible to understand ANY archaeological thing without its context!) and explain what they are

I did a quick snopes check on the cave map for anyone curious. A couple points: 1. the above map is not just a map of "missing people," it's a map of strange disappearances in and around national parks from David Paulides's Missing 411. So it would stand to reason that there are also cave systems in national parks. It'd be kind of like comparing a map of disappearances in major US metropolitan areas to a map of US transit systems to prove people disappear by falling into the subway. These things are just correlated by nature. 2. the image of the above map is not the original image. The dots on the below map have been overlaid on top of the above map, making it impossible to compare them accurately here.

-Fun fact for the the little robot guy and Backrooms looking location around the 3:22 mark: Greg is correct that it’s a Backrooms image that a person stuck into Google Maps for people to find! In fact it was part of an ARG by the channel Billy Le Robot (aka the cute little robot guy in the middle), and the channel itself is a bit of a fun watch if you have some time to read subtitles as the little cutie speaks French. It’s really funny how a conspiracyhead came across Billy’s little ARG and essentially did the soyjack point meme as though Google Maps only ever tells the truth when people mess with Maps all the time (like those nearby Japanese university students wore pigeon masks and stood on either side the the Google Maps capture device). -Hope the guy warned his neighbors beforehand, or else someone may have been saying a well known SpongeBob joke from the first movie. -Nothing creepy here, just a kiwi bird. What’s arguably creepier about them is their lack of evolution which causes the females of the species to carry and plop out an ungodly huge egg compared to their body mass. -Greg is on to something with podcast bros, especially scary podcast bros. Like you’re seriously telling me you believe the story being told here my man? It’s just a story being used to perpetuate that Saint Joseph and by extension God is real (so come convert and save your souls). Like yeah making a staircase without nails is definitely more difficult, but it’s not impossible considering there are woodworking techniques that allow for wooden pegs and/or no pegs or nails to be used. Plus wood is an extremely flexible material depending on what type of wood and other factors so that definitely helps in construction of “impossible stairs”. -Ngl I would be falling over myself too if I was used to earth gravity and not moon gravity (the fact that some people probably use these bloopers and sillies as proof that the moon landing/s are fake is just sad). -Assuming that the picture of the similar pieces isn’t citing the source of I Made It Up, there’s a very easy explanation for why several cultures would have similar carvings. Boats. For some reason (white) people act like cultures of people who Weren’t White were primitive or didn’t have something as easy to do as sailing and reaching other cultures. I mean seriously, there were still wooly mammoths roaming the earth while the Egyptians were building the pyramids. You’re really trying to tell me that the Vikings and White Men were the only ones that knew how to use and build a boat. -Interesting that a mummified dehydrated alien just so happens to be in the water yet cells not absorbing the water in a place where someone just so happened to find it and just so happened to have a waterproof camera. Also embarrassing to think it looks like the Mexico “alien” when apparently there’s been a video out for years by experts before it was used as evidence of aliens being real, and the experts in said video thoroughly debunked the Mexico “alien”. -If I had to guess for the last one, probably camera or just the pixels from enhancing and zooming an image. But I don’t know much of the field of camera sorcery so I won’t say anything conclusive about it (just that it’s not aliens)
@genoric4094

There is not a single soul that believes that Vikings were the first people to use boats, nor that ancient civilizations like Egypt or Aztecs were primitive. That’s a totally baseless assumption honestly showcasing a bit of racist preconceptions on your part.

16:20 "why did all these cultures all make the same drawing of a guy sitting in a thing?!" I don't know, why did people all over the world decide women need to cover their boobs, without those cultures communicating? Why do people all over the world style their hair, even before our cultures met, everyone all over earth knew how to braid their hair. Why did multiple, unconnected cultures all make knives and swords, and bow and arrows? Why did we all make the same floaty things to go on water? Why do we all speak words with our mouths? How come there isn't some isolated civilization that only communicated in armpit farts, or hand clapping, or blinking code with their eyelids? Maybe because all humans will always do and like and draw and build the same things over and over, whether someone else shows you how to do it or not.

They seem super serious in the shorts but during the actual podcast they'll joke about it and say they don't really know much about what they're talking about😂. Super great channel!!❤

Why would a rich guy build a bunker on an island that gets hit by enormous storms, tsunamis, and volcanic eruptions? I mean sure, it might also be for doomsday prepping or whatever, but I'd figure having a storm shelter is just smart over there.

9:16 nah, kiwis are some of the most docile animal you could meet. They do technically have sharp foot claws they use for digging, that can cut you, but it would probably be by accident if they did. Having mostly evolved before any predatory animals lived on the island, kiwis are so non-confrontational that they usually refuse to even defend their eggs, deciding it would be easier to have another (despite them being 1/2 the size of their body) than to die protecting the egg. Now people have to basically climb into kiwi burrows and kidnap their eggs to be artificially incubated and then hatched and released to the wild again, because more of them survive that way than if they keep their eggs, and a predator comes to eat it and the kiwis just run away or sit there and do nothing.

That cave one would be spooky if not for the fact that you’re never more than like a mile from a cave so duh. “But the distribution of missing person cases -“ nobody’s going missing in Wyoming bc nobody is in Wyoming. People go missing in highly populated areas, which are the ones highlighted, more often than people in less populated areas, because they are less populated, and there are less people to go missing. Cool pic but people give it way too much hype lmao
