Ken has been working on the Lara-Su Chronicles for over ten years at this point, and not even a single issue has come out. This is a guy who used to have to meet deadlines for Archie Comics all the time, so we know he's capable of producing things under supervision. So either he is totally incapable of managing himself, or else this thing is going to be so epic when it drops that it blows all of our minds with over a decade's worth of solid quality. I know which one my money's on.

I see all the Boom cast as kind of their own thing, as none of them are really close to their main versions, Eggman's probably the closest. It’s an issue using adaption Knuckles’ origin from the Sonic 3 & K, the last echidna, and figuring out how to introduce more echidna’s after that origin, combine with not having freedom to handle Sonic’s character/origin outside of using SatAM as a setting.

From what I heard, he was something of a The Original Shadow, before Shadow's debut in SA2. It was just after that when Knux's serious rival status was slowly dropped in Shadow's favor, by making him a dumb jock.

Yeah, Knuckles was made to be Sonic's opposite. Sonic is blue and fast, Knuckles is red and strong. Shadow just came in and stole the spot as rival... from Metal Sonic, who had already stolen the spot from Knuckles.

In my opinion, it makes partial sense that Penders would be at least a part of the reason Sega ended the contract with Archie and moved on to IDW. Even though Archie was going well for the most part, Ken was filing lawsuits left and right with virtually no basis. He even considered suing Sega over the new Sonic movie. Sega had, for a lack of better verbage, no control over the situation. They tried to come back with the Genisis Reset, but when that didn't work I think they just gave up on Archie altogether.

There's also the mismanagement of that whole lawsuit debacle from Archie in general, I mean, they just let Penders copyright his characters despite having signed a contract where he gave up ownership of those characters without saying anything, and lost the original contract which is what allowed Penders to win a lawsuit he shouldn't have been able to win, so Sega was understandably upset with Archie's incompetence, and feared that other weirdos like Penders could fuck them over with stupid lawsuits.
