a missed opportunity was to have echidnaopolis fall into fascism genuinely. rather than have it be a conspracy by the dakr legion, instead just...have nazi echidnas taking power, tired of sharing space with their long time enemies the dingos, who exist to show how wrong echidnapolis' hypocricies and war crime are, to show how even knuckles new home has rotten people living in it. but no, can't do anything to show the people of echidnapolis can have bad people among them. no just make the dark legion the bad guys for no reason. Just blame it all on the dark legion. I agree, the dark legion SHOULD have a more varied portrayal.

WOW, just WOW. I’ve never seen final space but I have heard of it via shorts and clips on KZbin but I never seem to be interested enough in the show but I did think it was really good. However hearing these news I’m just… disgusted at the state of the world. That such a wonderful show was denied a second chance, denied a legacy, even denied being remembered, it disgusts me that shows, no, ART like infinity train, coyote vs acme, the owl house, and so many more wonderful things are being deleted and forgotten all in the name of greed. Your right Lowart, these companies, studios, and streaming platforms DESERVE to die, this world knows nothing of art. This video is like everything I wanted to say. Watching this video is like looking at a mirror

@sarafontanini7051Күн бұрын
wow either they totally forgot about the petrified overlanders or they didn't think about sonic forgetting about them when trying to kill eggman would look...kinda bad. And they likely did it jsut so they could stop the overlanders from being such a THING in the story. course they could have always retconned it. Sonic knows some magic people, maybe he could have called in a favour, teleport them to a save spot. Or maybe not, because why should Sonic care? it's not like he's a good persona nd it's not like one of them was a dear friend of his.

I was rewatching this while working on something else; I inititally watched through this in its segmented form because I wanted to explain to a friend what Archie Sonic is like because it's uh. IT'S REALLY SOMETHING. But watching the breakdown of the comic leading up to 125 (I came in on... is it 98? the one with the really sick Spaz art of Sonic cosplaying as Strider) and your opening remarks about how you were more focused on the gameplay reminded me of something that I want to share. (BIG BLOCKS OF TEXT BELOW THE READMORE) As a kid, while I was initially fascinated with Sonic due to his atypical-for-the-time attitude and the fast gameplay (my cousin introduced me to Sonic 1 on the Megadrive when I was 4), when I returned to the game through the PC port of Sonic 3 & Knuckles (the "Sonic & Knuckles Collection", which came with a whole heap of music from other Sonic games, as well as a huge folder of artwork), something that really stood out to me was that Angel Island felt like a real place (despite the gamified nature of it). Knuckles getting around through shortcuts only he knew about (which was true even when playing as him), the mechanisms hidden in the environment, and the way that even game mechanics were justified in the aesthetic - for example, the flipper platforms in Angel Island Zone look like they were log constructions that someone actually made - all gave me the impression that there was an actual world there, and that there ONCE was a civilization here, but no more. Sonic Adventure, in contrast to Mario 64, really took this idea and ran with it: Mario 64 explicitly sets its levels as pieces of fantasy, in pictures, but Sonic Adventure wanted you to believe that there was a whole world that Sonic existed in, even if you didn't see all of it. For me, this silent worldbuilding - and it often *was* silent, because of the expense of voicework or just the inability to include it in 2D games beyond bitcrushed soundbytes - is what set Sonic apart from its competition and is what kept me a Sonic fan even into the dark days of post-SA2. Archie Sonic, once it began to settle on its "slice of life in the apocalypse" style, really scratched that itch for me, and I remember when I first picked up that comic and read it that I was really excited to learn that it wasn't just Sonic and Tails out here taking names - they had a whole community that they were part of, and that community was also part of the action, even if they were only playing a supporting role. (I never saw SatAM so the pre-existing ideas from it were entirely foreign to me, and I initially thought they were an Archie creation... oops.) Even after the first of the big resets, when Ian Flynn completely took over (and may Flynn's god reward him in his heaven for his deeds), there was still very much that sense of an ensemble cast, even if that cast was limited. Unfortunately, SEGA really messed it up by demanding a second reset and then just as *that one* was finding its feet after it was forced to do an awful Sonic Unleashed adaption, they canned it (at least IDW picked it up along with Flynn's staff, by the look of it). IDW is a good successor, but it hasn't yet reached a point where it can really deliver an "everyone is here" type event like 125 did, and seeing ABSOLUTELY EVERYONE work together was genuinely amazing. Unrelated to the main point, but since the era of Archie Sonic I'm most familiar with is that kind of 'accidental(?) black comedy' period, I think at the time I would have been... twelve, thirteen? At that point it was very difficult for me to find humor that I actually enjoyed, because what was being flagged as 'mature comedy' was South Park and The Simpsons (which by then had begun the great downhillening), and comedy aimed at children wasn't exactly much better, so Archie's black comedy found an audience in me, at least, and I thought it was hilarious.

it was really such a good idea to take such a divisive character like geoffrey st john, an egotistical, arrogant, self righteous asshole who acts like he knows better than everyone else and is oh so much better at being a freedom fighter than everyone else and thinks everyone should jsut shut up and listen to him...well, why not jsut make him an out and out villain? one who beleives he's doing the best thing for everyone of course, one whose arrogance allows him to be mislead by an obvious villain and who cannot comprehend he might have done something stupid or even worse something that would hurt everyone, but still ultimately a villain in his own right. aslo that shot of him in Endgame looking down after he's given (rather rushed and out of nowhere) reason to beleive sonic's innocence? that doesn't read as remorse to me. That looks more like disappointment, like he was given reason to be justified in disliking sonic and get rid of his rival once and for all, but now he's in the wrong, he's the BAD GUY, and that makes him unhappy. Because he doesn't WANT sonic to be innocent, to be the hero. But that's jsut me reading into things XP

I think a lot of 2003's flaws can be summed up in one big issue 2003 instead of building up and paying off plot points in a satisfactory manner, ops for evoking kneejerk emotional reactions from the viewer. Hence the Terminator, Rose's entire plot, Ed's constant meandering, Mustang attacking Bradley's home.

Something people often miss with the 2003 adaptation is that most, if not 'all' of the "filler" episodes serve one very, very important purpose. They setve to give Ed and Al 'life experience', these characters were merely children when we first met them. They had to grow up as the story went on, and the showrunners nailed it, it's a long journey before we reach the final episode, and every element counts towards it.

The worst part of people saying shit like "At least its not 06!" Is the incredible irony of the fact that 06's level design is actually really fun, its just everything else causing problems. Forces is just terribly designed from a map/gameplay perspective AND its story is offensively bad. But at *least* it isnt Colors

ultimately, Eren being a genocidal villain who was originally the hero of the story is far more compelling than having it be he was the hero but only pretended to be evil even though he still did a genocide which somehow makes him the hero even though he murdered a lot of people. Like seriously, trying to make genocide a HEROIC ACTION is KINDA FUCKED UP

I really love how finitevus came out of nowhere to become a really compelling archenemy to knuckles, like how enerjak and the dark legion was SUPPOSED to be but never really committed to beign that compelling as archfoes. Finitevus, regardless of his motives, acts as knuckles' dark mirror. While Knuckles has a deep respect and love for echidna culture and society because he never really looked too deep into it or its flaws, Finitevus DESPISES it. After all, were it not for echidnaopolis he wouldn't have been transformed, let alone marked for death by them because he was different. Knuckles respects the past but finitevus cares only for change and progress, regardless of what sacrifices need be made for it. They both have a deep love of the more magical side of echidna lore, but finitevus twists it, caring only for how it can be used to destroy, to hurt. and most importantly, knuckles doesn't hold a grudge to his people despite how many times members of it have harmed him and others, while finitevus seems to be driven partial from said grudge. the fact they are mirrors of each is called out blatantly but also shown later on when they fight each other and give their own versions of a chant, with finitevus' version using words that are direct opposites to ones knuckles uses.

What bothers me about Ashes turn and Foxes death isn't that it happened or that it's what caused here to change sides, it's the fact that none of the characters ever bothered to point out that Gary had literally no control over that situation, including Gary himself. I think it's brilliant about the first episode the first couple episodes and the first season in general unlike the Sopranos where you thrown into this character that already is in the life of crime they've been doing it they have their tenure they've been a seasoned criminal. Breaking bad first season it's Walter White a schoolteacher that probably could've amounted to huge things in life but cut short because he sold the company gray matter which we find out later so you see a man is not the most successful every day person like you and me could be your father and he has a disabled son baby on the way that was unexpected living a low class income you can slowly see the innocence wiping off more predominantly in the episode where he kills crazy eight and his cousin the scene with the bike lock choking him to death saying "I'm sorry I'm sorry" crying that whole season you can see a man changing not for the good and his mind it's for the good for his family but reality is for the worst that's what makes it so brilliant you can relate to Walt maybe he like your dad your family maybe he's even you and you feel like if I joined the gang or was in crime maybe my life would be better NO it's a a dirty facade!
