Common story. I'm a retired RN and my neighbour asked what he could do for ankle oedema (i.e. some sort pressure bandage). Told me the drugs he was on. I was able to send him the info on adverse effects of his antihypertensives. He went back to the doctor and, I presume, had the prescription changed. The GP had no idea until he took in the printouts of the studies. Stay away from doctors folks! Get metabolically healthy through a low carb diet, and simply use the docs to get an annual blood test, including lipid panel, B12, Iron, HBA1C, and most importantly, fasting insulin. They don't like it, but you are in charge of your health, not them. Oh, and make sure you get a print out of your lab results, so you can research and track your progress. Again, they don't like it, but if they refuse, just say you will invole the Freedom of Information Bill. They'll print it out for you, quick smart.

I'm starting to finally go to school and study medicine to hopefully become a physician one day. Dr Paul Mason is the doctor who taught me that theres so much to learn and theres so many people i can help save without shoving pills down their mouth.
@paulcallicoat75978 ай бұрын
I wish you well and know that we will need more young people who want to really help mankind into a better condition than what we are presently at. I'm afraid that most of the medical schools are focusing on teaching "a pill for every condition". First to learn all the premed courses and when you finally get into the final year and have to memorize all that worthless pill keep the goal in sight.Don't quit because there are practicing doctors who realized that the whole system is rotten and pushing poisons but they have educated themselves and shared what they learned with patients and other doctors. Ironic that the father of modern medicine Hippocrates had written some rules such as " Do no harm". The author of 70 books on medicine which mostly were observational determinations which most modern physicians would fail because its tough to observe a patient in 5 minutes or less.
@sportysbusiness8 ай бұрын
Sorry to disappoint you, but if you want to "help save without shoving pills down their mouth", you're in the wrong profession. You will not be allowed to treat people correctly, you will only be allowed to follow the standard of care, even when you know it's wrong.

I work in the ICU and ER as a respiratory therapist. There needs to be more people like you who can bring this type of thinking into the field. Ive only met some nurses and other RTs who understand these kinds of things about nutrition. Not a single doctor. The system is pill pushing, treatment driven, and surgery resorting. So good luck. My dream job as an RT would be to work in critical care that implements functional medicine and turns people around after a crisis, combining our current system with what should be the preventative standard.
@Soapgirl648 ай бұрын
You may learn that The System doesn’t let doctors do/say what they want. Gotta push pharmaceuticals. You may find Functional Medicine or Naturopathy would suit you better if you really want to make an impact.

Your GP is now known as Primary Medical Care Salesmen. MY GP retired, my new one already started talking about the medicines he might prescribe after my blood tests and other tests next week. He also has a dietician on staff, she gave me 10 pages of sample menus and said you need to lose weight, you need to count calories. I said I am going low carb, her face distorted and said "You need carbs or you will die!" American healthcare is big business, keep everyone sick. I will using my "Salesmen" to order blood tests only or if I get a bacterial infection. Thank you for the video.

In some respects, she's correct. If you don't have any glucose you will die. Your kidneys, red blood cells and brain all need a small amount of glucose. Fortunately your liver is more than capable of making all the glucose your body ever needs. You do not need to consume any.

Insulin resistance is not an illness, it is the cell’s normal response to excess glucose. Once a cell has all the glucose it can use, it stops accepting more. To force more glucose into the cell is destructive. We don’t need extra insulin, we need lower glucose. See Professor Bart Kay for more info.

I stopped taking statin and I lost 57 pounds on ketovore. I had an A1c of 4.9. Then I had a stroke 6 weeks ago. A highly recommended neurologist said I had a stroke due to high triglycerides and too much red meat consumption. I believe her when she says that a statin will probably prevent another stroke. Sometimes eating right doesn't fix everything.
@Debbie-jz6ef8 ай бұрын
How long were you on a bad diet? A few weeks or months is not enough time to reverse a lifetime of bad eating habits. All carnivores lower their triglycerides and raise their HDL. High triglycerides are indicative of inflammation. But what were your triglyceride levels before you had problems. They were most likely higher and trending down. I hope you do more research.

If you went to school for 6 years and a bunch of debt to learn a trade, and then 15 years of you doing your trade everything is getting worse even though you did what you were taught, and someone else comes in and tells you everything you do is wrong because some guy on the Internet said so watch his videos... You'd think they were crazy. Most people do keto out of despair, like 90% of the time they've already tried like having the smallest piece of cake at the birthday party, or eating half of the pizza they normally would, having a 600 calorie MC salad thinking it was half the calories of the cheeseburger. They think the diet will kill you. They were trained that fat and muscle building cholesterol is evil, that ketogenic diets were only for kids with medication resistant seizures. They aren't continuing to learn, I've met one person in my life that has heard of type 3 diabetes and I work in an elderly care facility with type 3 diabetic clients we care for. Doctor then dentist. 2 highest suicidal occupations in the US. Probably wouldn't be without all the sugar in the country.

In 1903 Thomas Edison was concerned about the healthcare of his time and stated: “The doctor of the future will give no medicine, but will interest his patient in the care of the human frame, in diet and in the cause and prevention of disease.” nice quote to leave off on. to make us all ponder .. the foundational beliefs. seems like 1921 (insulin drug) was the point that made us all loose our proper way forward... interesting that PM seems to just get better looking as the years go by.

At about 12:55 Dr Mason says that glycerol is converted to glucose by the liver and enters the fat cell when insulin activates the glut 4 transporter, and once inside the fat cell the glycerol is converted back into glucose, they combine together and now you have fat being stored. I may have misunderstood something or was this a slip of the tongue? Did he mean to say that glycerol is converted to glucose by the liver and enters the fat cell when insulin activates the glut 4 transporter, and once inside the fat cell the glucose is converted back into glycerol, which combines together with the fatty acids to form triglyceride, and now you have fat being stored inside the fat cell?
@bikeman98992 ай бұрын
I noticed the same thing. I understand the process from one of Paul Mason's previous lectures, as glucose enters the fat cell via the Glut4 Transporter on the fat cell. Once in the fat cell, the glucose is converted to glycerol, which recombines with the three fatty acids to form the fully reconstituted triglyceride molecule. I am opennto correction here, but I believe this is the mechanism.
