Great informative videos, Thanks. Any tips on upgrading a bagger to the new style saddle bag? Can the old lid be upgraded with the new latching mechanism? Or is a complete new set of bags in order? Can new bags be order with older colors of paint? I can’t believe it took so long to design a better way of latching the lid.

FMTFXE22 - your old bag latch isn’t able to be upgraded to match the new bags. Your local dealer can look into ordering bags and if it is possible to match an older paint.

Doc, do you happen to have the part numbers for the screws and nuts? I am currently doing the old police bags myself and would love to stay way from the rivets if at all possible. Please let us know. Thank you.

I did not use Harley-Davidson parts. I requested from Fastenal Hardware Store 06-32X3/8 stainless socket cap screws. 06-32 stainless steel nylon insert lock nut. Thanks, ~ Doc

@@LowCountryHarleyDavidson Thx for all the info Doc, that really saved me a ton of time first of all getting those rivets out, what a pain those are and for the bolt/nut sizes. Now it's getting prepped for paint and we'll be ready to r-n-r. Thx again.

you should do a video on how to restore road king classic leather saddlebags. they are so beautiful but scratch so easily

Isn’t 6/32” same as 3/16”? We always go with the lower fraction.

6-32 is not an inch size. It’s a number 6 screw with 32 threads per inch.

Sorry but that looks like crap if your gonna spend that kind of money repainting them.
