Lowden S35 SHOOTOUT: 12-fret vs 14-fret

Everything Juan John played sounded better on the 12 fret cedar/walnut. The 14 fret redwood/cocobolo sounded better strumming. Thanks guys for a great comparison!

Great video guys .Im going to through a spanner in the works as I have a lowden s35 cocobolo 12th fret.Both sound really nice but personally I find a 12th fret really comfortable to play 😊🎸👍

lowden with cedar tops are my fave. 12 fret sounds warmer but hard to tell bc cedar is a warmer top than sinker

On my iPad Air the 14 fret won. More of everything. The overtones are full of chime. Sound reminds me of Brazilian Rosewood. 😎 for some reason the 12 fret Lowdens don’t speak to me. But the fourteen frets. A big yes 😎

The Lowden twelve fret sounded boxy. I own two Gibson twelve fret guitars. A twelve fret Gibson Nick Lucas Brazilian Rosewood and a Gibson Twelve fret Southern Jumbo Special Mahogany. Adirondack Top all hide glue construction. Both none boxy sounds. But I want a high end Lowden guitar someday

After listening to both guitars I prefer the 14 fret as the notes have more power and solidity to them. If the woods were the same on both guitars and they each had a set of the same new strings it would be a more transparent comparison.

I’m not a fan of the brand, they just aren’t my sound. But if i had to pick between the 2, i would choose the 14 fret. Nice playing.

Two great guitars. Both have great Sustention. The choice depends on what typ of music and styl one likes to play. Remember spending a whole day at the Lavin guitar factory in Gothenberg Sweden trying out guitars untill I found the one that talked to me. Loved that guitar until some airline jocky busted the top on it. G D Airlines!!!!! Took a while before I found a Lowden G7, still have it.

You don't showcase a 12-fret by playing treble blues. You do fingerstyle that shows bass descending lines, mid-range, etc. ALL OF IT.
