Both companies make great products and I'm personally like the vented Rucksacks and for the RAB I'm very very happy with the ones that I have and fortunately Christmas is on the Horizon and that's where all of my RAB clothing has come from.
@WalkWithWallace4 жыл бұрын
The venting does make a difference, but you lose a bit of space in the pack. I only recently found out Rab have bought Lowe Alpine. 😁

Great review. Does the air zone tech prevent your back from getting soaking wet from sweat when hiking up hill? If not, do you know of any good packs with good ventilation?
@WalkWithWallace3 жыл бұрын
The AirZone does do a good job of keeping your back cool and it's similar to Berghaus's Freeflow system. No rucksack alone will be 100% effective though.

Hi Robin, another great video. I have a question about your uco lantern, well several. How durable is it given it has real glass? Have you used it inside the tent? If so How safe did it feel and have you noticed it helps reduce condensation in the tent? Cheers
@WalkWithWallace4 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, the lantern feels durable and comes with a nice cloth bag, but must admit that I've never dropped the lantern to find out how durable it is. The glass is pretty thick though. I would only have it burning if the door is open or I'm in the tarp as there's still a risk of carbon monoxide poisoning in an enclosed space. It can help a little with condensation as heat escapes out of the top of the lantern. I bought it more for aesthetic purposes for those long winter nights.

That is a good pack Robin. I like the durability of it because I do chuck my packs about. My new Gregory Optic 58 didn't feel that Robust on my last long trek, which I will talk about but this - worth a gander. Nice camp mate - as for the road. I agree always walk into traffic and cross if you can with oncoming vehicles on a bend. But I was on a busy A road (unavoidable) and could not cross because of zero verge and traffic both ways. Best thing to do then - stay absolutely still - don't even blink. Anyway take care buddy. Mark
@WalkWithWallace4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Mark, there's a compromise if you want light weight gear as it won't last quite as long. This pack definitely suits winter for the durability. I remember your video and it was a much tighter and busier than my scenario. Hope you're well mate. 👍🏻
@WyeExplorer4 жыл бұрын
@@WalkWithWallace A pleasure Robin. That's right mate - it's a bit tender is the Gregory. Yours looks right on for shorter trips of course as you mention. Yeah, there was traffic coming from both directions on that road and their was no verge on the other side either.

@@PAADVENTURES1 don't get me wrong I enjoy using the drone and love the footage, but setting it up during a walk I find a pain, hence why usually you'll only see drone footage from me once I've set up camp. 😎 I do use the phone occasionally, as it does take some nice footage from the rear camera. But 99% of the footage is from my DJI Osmo Action camera. What do you use yourself at the moment?
@PAADVENTURES14 жыл бұрын
@@WalkWithWallace Initially my phone (poor) and more recently a wee GoPro Hero7 Black (pretty ok). I got it in the sale along with a fotopro tripod. The drone shots are pretty amazing though and worth the effort. They completely hold your attention. I have become an addict! 12 months ago I was a normal functioning couch potato. Then I found your channel, lost the plot and I am absolutely hooked and loving it...My knees are sore but the force is strong.....Fabby Doo.
@WalkWithWallace4 жыл бұрын
@@PAADVENTURES1 @Paul Agnew I was exactly the same, started with my old Samsung Galaxy S7 then upgraded to the GoPro Hero 7 Black, mostly for the stabilisation. The only reason I switched to the DJI Osmo Action is its easier to mount external audio and the wee front facing screen is ideal for vlogging. Keep up the good work mate, it's slow to begin with, but you'll get there. I've seen KZbinrs grow overnight with one video, others like my self a bit more slow and steady. 😂
@summitupmark56154 жыл бұрын
Hi Robin - so my pack arrived and I've just had an interesting comment on facebook saying that above 8kg the pack is really uncomfortable. I'm taking that with a pinch of salt and thinking its a badly adjusted pack but wondered what your thoughts on this is? What sort of weight did you carry in this video and how far did you walk?
@WalkWithWallace4 жыл бұрын
Hi Mark, I don't agree with 8kg at all. The rucksack manages the contents much better than my Osprey Levity 45 and that's meant to hold weight of around 10kg. My base weight not including food and water is around 6.5-7kg, so I estimate I was carrying 8.5-9kg all in not including the rucksack. Not huge walks though due to staying local with lockdown restrictions. *Edit* my base weight includes the weight of the Levity pack, so deduct 860g from my base weight figure.
@summitupmark56154 жыл бұрын
@@WalkWithWallace Sounds more like it. I've wild camped 3 times now and my osprey stratos 36 has weighed about 12kg in total (I'm looking to carry less) but feel the Lowe Alpine will swallow it all much easier than the 36 pack. Thanks

@@summitupmark5615 I reckon you'll be fine with the Lowe Alpine. Like you said in your original comment, it sounded like an ill fitted pack. Took me a few attempts to get everything fitted nicely to my back.
