My favourite is the Lowepro Slingshot 202 AW. (…which is now discontinued and replaced by the imo less attractive Slingshot Edge series). This bag too can swing round and give access to all the gear. It doesn’t hold a ton of gear, and probably too small if you’re a full frame user. (There was also a bigger 302 version). But for APS-C it holds the camera and about 3 EF-S lenses. Plus there’s a separate compartment at the top which can take maybe a flash and another lens or some cleaning gear and a sandwich. And when the straps are correctly attached and tightened - including the long thin one, the weight is distributed in such a way that you hardly even feel the bag at all. (I saw one reviewer cut the thin strap off because it annoyed him, and then go on to complain that all the weight was on one shoulder, not realising that he only had himself to blame because, guess what: the strap was there for a reason!)

I’ve just gone for the Lowepro Flipside 200 II AW. Upgraded from the Lowepro Slingshot 100, as bought a 200-500mm

Short, sweet, and to the point. Thank you for demonstrating the swivel-around, tabletop open from the back, to swap bodies and bigger lenses. EXACTLY what I want. The now-discontinued v.II of the slightly smaller AW 400 could also do this, but apparently the AW 400 III cannot. V.III Flipsides (no 500 to date) can only do swivel with side-pocket access, which is fine for swapping two midsize lenses, but too small for swapping bigger telephotos, unless you take the bag off and put it down. So even though my gear would fit (barely!) in a 400, you've sold me on this one. One minor concern I'll note: on two sides, the 500 is too big by 1-2" for legal carry-on, on some airlines (for example, LATAM in South America, which I use). Most people do it and have no problem, but technically, on some flights, you could be stopped at the gate with this one. Check your airline website, especially if on a smaller plane, don't stuff it full, and roll the dice and take your chances! /lol

Thanks for your feedback, much appreciated! I hope you’ll find it useful, I’ve been using it for several years now and still in great condition, pretty durable. I know that some airlines can be extremely strict, as you said just gotta roll the dice😀😬

Great review Peter. I really love Lowepro bags. I’ve always had them. Such good quality gear. I’m digging that camo look too on this one. Good purchase mate 👍🙏

Great video Peter, I own this bag and it’s served me very well. The only issue I have is when I’m gone for a day there isn’t much space for my jacket, snacks etc with all my lens! I also own the Shimoda Action X30 which I alternate with this one. Thanks for sharing!

I own this bag as well as its predecessor. I have the old one in black and the new one in camo. If anybody wonders what the differences are between version 1 and 2, I have found only two: First the door to the main compartment is much bigger in the new version and has all these pockets in it. The old one has a much narrower door with no pocket for a laptop. The other difference is the very useful extra removable pouch at the top which is missing in the old version.

Seems like a solid backpack. Might wanna see it holding some large lenses like the probe lens or 200-600mm from Sony. Nice review!

Thanks mate. Can definitely hold the Somy 200-600, especially if you remove the small pouch for the accessories. Cheers😉😊

Why is this bag so affordable? When compared to other companies (Shimoda, Mindshoft, Compagnon, etc.) this bag sounds to good to be true... Are there any catches one should know about?
@peterviragphoto3 жыл бұрын
Hi there. If you don’t intend to use it for 8 hours a day for hiking then it’s totally fine ( there are more comfortable bags out there with more back support for example but at this price point it’s still pretty good. )It’s been a great camera backpack for me & I’ve used it for many hours & still going strong. Thanks for dropoing by. Cheers
