The lower body plays such a key role and has such a great impact on our daily life. Having a strong lower body is the foundation because we use our lower body throughout the whole day. That is why it is important to work out legs, “friends don’t let friends skip leg day”. Well that is a saying for a reason. Legs are not the most fun thing to work, and it can be pretty painful (in a good way). Leg workouts are not an easy thing.
It is worth it though! Make sure you are working your legs throughout the week, and keep it in your workout plan! You are going to get great results, and your body will be better off for it.
Here are the exercises in this lower body at home workout for men over 50.
Exercise #1: GOBLET SQUAT
Exercise #2: LUNGES
Exercise #3: BULGARIAN SPLIT SQUAT
Exercise #4: STEP-UPS
Make sure to add this workout to your routine in order to build bigger and stronger leg at home!

Thanks for the help with the balance. I never had an issue when I was younger, but that has changed. A wider stance will assist.

I have a barbell and with that I do sets of squats, many reps with lighter weight. And I do calf raises with the same barbell. That's all I do for legs. And it works well.

Nice job. I am doing all of these already through Qi Gong and Kung Fu but still helpful to hear from someone in my own age group. No social media for me though -just KZbin.

Just curious to why You and Gary never seem to do DB Squats using a Dumbbell in each hand (holding them on the outsides of your legs - sort of a Farmer's Carry Squat), but always seem to rather do Goblet Squats? Wouldn't using 2 DBs allow you to use more weight in a more controlled, and manageable fashion? Like you could hold a 40 lbs DB in each hand which would mean you would be squatting with 80 lbs which it seems would be easier than having to hold an 80 lb DB in Goblet Squat position.

I always enjoy your videos. I've always enjoyed leg day. but after 2 knee surgeries, and a broken left femur bone, I still can press out up 400 lbs. or more. I've never tried lunges, when I see someone dong it, I think to myself, a knee problem just waiting to happen. I like the step up, on my weight bench with 20 lbs. dumbbells in my hands.

Same here. I always feel squats more in my back and knees than my legs, despite having good form. I substitute reverse lunges for squats.
