Lower Columbia Walleye

Anglers in the Northwest are becoming more and more passionate about walleye fishing. The Columbia River system from the British Columbia to the mouth of the Columbia has a sizeable population of walleye. These tasty, toothy fish are addictive and many fishermen spend hours and days trying to master catching these fish. Brett Boyd and Rich Harrod have fished stretches of the lower Columbia River for years, and share their favorite places with Bob Loomis.

J ROD we use the launch on the Washington side at Maryhill State Park. You can also launch at Rufus.

Great video! I recently moved to Cathlamet, Wa and was interested to know if there any walleye or small mouth down that far that you are aware of? Appreciate you letting me pick your brain.

NDS Traveler thanks for watching! There are walleye and bass throughout the Columbia River but I personally have never fished that far down. But I know of a few guys that do fish in the lower river and do pretty well. Good luck!

i live in longview, drive down to st helens and hit the multnomah channel. make the right around the pier and go till you hit the abandoned ship. marked a couple trolling for springers

NDS Traveler there walleye and smallies throughout the Columbia River. I personally have never fished in the Cathlamet area. You might consider joining the PNW Walleye Addicts group on Facebook and see if you can find someone that fishes the area. Good luck!

Corey Mcpherson target 20-26 feet for walleye. Troll down river moving at river speed. Mack’s Lure walleye lures, tipped with a worm, and Pro Cure Trophy Walleye Super Gel works awesome. No Musky in the river that I know of. Good luck!

When is the best time to fish for walleye? And can you catch them year round?

Yo Hon depends on the body of water, but April, May, June, September, and October tend to be the best months. You can catch them year round, I’d like to try for them through the ice someday!
