Lower Control Arm & Toe Arm Install! | Scion FRS

Installing the RS-R rear lower control arms and Verus rear toe arms on the FRS! Couldn't be happier with this combination of parts and how the car feels now with it all aligned!

Once these are on and adjusted, how often are you re-adjusting them? Do you go btwn track and street a lot? Are you going for extreme camber or toe settings for a special purpose? The stainless nuts on the aluminum may not be friendly together in the salty air/rain of FL.

You wouldn’t want to have multiple settings for different scenarios, at least in the sense of street vs track, wouldn’t be feasible as you’d need a relatively proper alignment to get the settings correct, so buying alignment services every track event wouldn’t be cheap or convenient in the slightest, more of a burden. Generally arms like these are set and forget once you know how you want your suspension adjusted, the adjustments for the most part are locked in unless you hit something like a pothole significantly, or after a year or so they can shift slightly, but hard to notice. You might have different settings you prefer for different tracks, but I’d advise finding a good middle ground where it’ll perform no matter what or accomplish the goal you want, which in my case was 0 camber and 1/8th toe in for the rear. I’ll have to check out the bolts a little close to see, but last I was down there everything looks peachy. 👌

For reference the purpose of the 0 camber is even tire wear for drifting, so I don’t burn out just one side of the tire, 1/8th of toe in helps a little bit with putting power down, essentially adds a bit of mechanical grip.

What are the size of the bolts that you have to torque @16:30 cause I didn’t do that and they fell off driving and now I need a replacement asap thanks 🙏

Go back under the car but place it on cinder blocks so the suspension is under load, these have to be torqued with load on the vehicle if not you’ll eat away your bushings real quick. Also how have the control arms held up?

I’ll double check the torque, but I always ask my alignment guy to snug it down whenever I install new parts either way. It’s been over a year drifting on this setup and it hasn’t budged a bit, LCAs are as strong as ever! 👍

when buying the control arm kit, does it come with toe arms? or is that bought separately?

Great question! Some companies sell combination packs but for these particular parts you’d have to order separately. Ft86 speed factory now sells their own tie rods which are made by verus which is a cool collab and I think one of the better toe arms since it comes with the eccentric lockout plates as well 👍

It might be slight enough changes to the height that’s it’s not bumping your alignment too much so you’re probably fine, you’d feel it if it wasn’t in a sense. These kinds of parts are for specific purposes, like if you want a specific alignment, you’re going to need these to be adjustable, for example in drift we want 0 camber (or close to) and a slight amount of toe-in for the rear, this can’t really be achieved with stock parts. Like wise some people want lots of camber, arms like these help achieve that since they have a large range of adjustability. Hope it makes sense!
