Many thanks for the great product and great detailed videos on how to replace the Hobie parts. It took me about one hour to disassemble the spine and install the new parts - no problem following your video on how to do this. For anyone considering replacing the components on their Hobie drive, I strongly recommend this. I seem to get about 1000 miles on a new Hobie spine before it starts to fall apart. The new parts appear to be much better and I look forward to seeing how well they work over the next year. So far the first couple of test cruises after the replacement have been perfect.

I love your mods, glad someone is filling the need for Hobie spine issues. 2 questions: 1. Do you offer installs? 2. How long would you say these bearing will last in saltwater?

Sorry, I’m going to reply from my other account so I can answer your question. 1. Yes, I can. I did do a test for one customer. My goal was always to do core swaps but I need spines to create an inventory. 2. No idea. And I say that because it’s hard to tell because of the end user. They seem to be pretty resilient and clean out relatively easy with that being said and full disclosure. I’ve only ever had two people report back to me that their bearings fell apart. The first person said they heated it up because they were trying to set it over one of the metal gear spine gears. He assumed that it fell apart because of the heat, but he just wanted to let me know. The second customer was just recently and he had a mod. One in the bearing completely fell apart according to him he was just out having a good old day and it fell apart. It’s one of the smaller bearings so I just don’t see that happening. I think an object got into it and just was able to override the roller and pop it off track. He did provide photos, but he was the first person that ever has shown me one.

I love the fact you're doing this. I previously purchased one of your bearing replacement kits and have been very happy. Question - have you ever considered making a kit for converting from non-kick up fins to kickup fins? Hobie talked about it but never got around to it from what I can tell post-COVID. Thanks

Nice work! How much for all package?
@Goss.outdoors3 ай бұрын
I believe all you have to do is purchase the fins and the kick up pieces. I just saw a video of a company doing a video on it. I have been looking and can't seem to find it. if I do I will come back here to link it.

I heard you have to have a different spine but that could be wrong

Hello!! Thank you for the tutorial, how/where can I purchase all these parts separately?
@Goss.outdoors2 ай бұрын
Currently they are only as a kit since they all have to work together. Buying a single piece alone will not work with a stock drive.

Would you consider selling the ceramic roller bearings separately? Those should work independently, no? I have a good spine but the roller bearings are a bit worn.
@Goss.outdoors2 ай бұрын
@@michaelknox1906 I do sell all the bearings on my Etsy and Ebay pages. HOWEVER, just having the bearing doesn't mean it will work. There are demential difference between the bearing and the parts. My parts are redesigned to take up that gap.

I am appreciative of your videos which help me a lot. I have a 2017/2018 MD 180 drive which front spine gear teeth broken. I plan to replace the gear with aftermarket stainless steel gear. Are the bearings and washers are good for the stainless steel gear sets? May I have your contact information? Kevin Thank you
@Goss.outdoors3 ай бұрын
I cannot speak to the Stainless Steel Gear at all since they are not my product. I would have no idea if those bearings would fit. If they did fit, there are two other locations where they would be loose at. The middle bridge and rear cup's OD is larger than the bearings so they would be loose and both locations. My complete spine takes into account those locations and is redesigned to fit the bearing properly. I would reach out to the maker of the stainless steel ones and see if they can answer your questions. Good luck.

Muito obrigado por compartilhar, aqui no Brasil infelizmente não temos nenhuma opção de aquisição de partes. Gostaria de transformar meu Driver Gt em um 180
