Thanks man, this was straight to the point and exactly what I needed. I lowered my truck on 2" drop spindles and 3" drop leafs. I like how it looks but with the tires I'm currently running my front fender rubs the tire sometimes over bumps or hard corners. So I need to raise the front just a little bit till it stops. Thanks again

Very good video. I have done this job too. BUT, if you ever remove the torsion bar( to replace the control arm and/or lower ball joint.. then you must reinstall with the control arm's rubber bumper touching the truck's frame.. as your starting point. Start tightening the anchor in an almost vertical position, pulling it downward to its desired ride height. Then.. I got a professional front wheel alignment with the new ride height.

I just bought a hardbody and it sits higher on the driver side. I checked the torsion bar and there was a 1/2" difference. I even them up but it didn't change any. I will rest my truck on jack stands next time.

VICTOR M the fuel tank is known to cause a lean to the right side, otherwise known as the hardbody lean.
@ALLWORKNOPLAYnetwork6 жыл бұрын
New suspension?
@SuperchargedPathfinder6 жыл бұрын
VICTOR M all of them, the weight of the fuel tank just pulls down the right side slightly. You can adjust for it but as the tank empties the right side will get a little higher. The fix I will be going to is a bed mounted fuel cell, that can be evenly mounted so both sides share equal burden of the weight.

I have a 1996 D21 and wanting to drop it about 2" in the front. By doing what this video states, will it change the way it rides? in other words will it get stiffer, and does it need to be aligned after doing this? Thanks for the help!
@SuperchargedPathfinder5 жыл бұрын
It might softer. Depends on the shocks or how tired your springs might be. I do recommend an alignment but make sure they know its lowered and that the specs are custom.
@brandonb69033 жыл бұрын
Does this camber your tires real bad.
@SuperchargedPathfinder3 жыл бұрын
Yes it will give your tires negative camber.

I have a two-wheel drive hardbody extended cab v6 and I redrilled the leaf spring mounts to lower the back and I was going to get spindles but could I just do this and get away with it I'm not trying to slam it to the ground or anything but I just want the front to be level with the back and I have new shocks all the way around ((this wouldn't make the front suspension soft will it???)) because if it does I'd rather just go with the spindles and leave my bars alone

I don't see any consequences other than if your suspension is worn or damaged the alignment might be difficult to get right. I use the body line measured to the floor to check for even leveling.

totalld21 are you saying the bolts that hold the mount to the control arm are missing?

Mine is a 4x4 so not the control arm but on the end where torsion bar hooks into the cross member with the lip thats on the end of the bar, popped down and forward towards the front of the truck. Kind of hard to explain without getting a good picture.
