I'm a equipment technician at a golf course here in the hot springs village Arkansas. I love this video. The term for adjusting the bedknife to reel is called setting the tension. It should be checked after every mow after cleaned and dried. Keep up the good work boys

@@FriedEggsGolf you're actually raising the knife up to the reel. you're only cutting one green so if you checked it for height and cut quality once a week it should be fine. paper should cut all the way across when held vertically and pinch the paper horizontally. check them roller bearings once in a while too. also, when adjusting the h.o.c be sure and go past the height you want and then bring it back to eliminate slack in the adjusters. thanks for the videos guys! p.s. how is the diameter of that reel? they have wear limits and i may have a new in box reel kicking around we could deal on if ya need it.

As a couple of idiots who also are just trying to figure this stuff out … I love this. 😂 Here is what you will find: people who ACTUALLY know what they are doing and work on golf courses will tell you all the things you are supposed to do the correct way and blah blah blah. BUT… as a couple of idiots, we know that we don’t have the resources, education or time to do everything 100% “correctly”. So… you do the best you can, learn along the way and have fun with it. Take their advice and also take that grain of salt.

As a greens keeper I think you did a great job. I'd kill for that Accu-Gage with the magnet also. The reel to bedknife adjustment tilts the bedknife ever so slightly towards the reel, the reel doesn't move. When you have your Accu-Gage on the mower and checking height, spin the front roller slowly and watch for changes in height, this will tell you if your roller is out of round. Then kinda split the difference. Just a few tips I noticed. Also, if you're checking cut with printer paper you can use a folded peice, gives it a little more for it to cut against. Great video guys. Loved it as usual.

@@FriedEggsGolf , just noticed, I meant to say the reel doesn't move on the reel to bedknife adjustments, I edited it. I love the equipment videos along with the turf videos. I currently have a BlackJack Bermuda chipping green and two tees in my backyard. Hoping to upgrade to a full putting green at some point in the future. The course I work at has zoysia greens.
