Lowering The Rear Of Speedy 1973 VW Thing Using Adjustable Spring Plates Mileage Unknown Ep58

On this Mileage Unknown we are wrenching on another one of our project cars. My brothers 1973 Volkswagen Thing Speedy! We are finally finishing up getting Speedy low by reclocking or reindexing the torsion bars and adding some adjustable spring plates!

Hey guys Kevin here from Australia. Speedy is looking good. I'd like to see him all dialled in as it does look like you have some fine tuning to do but hey that's one of the advantages of adjustable spring plates. Anyhoo thankyou so much for sharing guys. Stay safe. ✌ Peace.

Kevin Hamling thanks for checking it out! Yeah we’re still doing some tweaking we’re actually using the spring plates 2 raise the back up a little bit 2 get some suspension travel out of it. I think Travs getting an alignment done here in the next week or so. He’s itching 2 get it back going down the road!

@@mileageunknown8910 have you thought about adjustable 2 inch lowered spring plates. You still end up with all original travel and you can still tweak the height.

The rear could be on the bump stops, causing no rear suspension travel. Do not remove the bump stops but you can cut them in half. Speedy is looking great, nice work you guys!

VWJAWBREAKER we had the bump stops out! Lol we did end up cutting them in half and putting them in..... right now the adjustable spring plates are being used 2 raise it up a bit instead of lowering it so who knows we may be doing some re-configuring but it looks so cool down low! Lol 😂

do you remember where you purchased the spring plates and how long were your torsion bars?

Sorry idk how long the torsion bars are on this one.... The spring plates came from Kaddie Shack I think he had the best price at the time
