You need to remove 4"or 5" of top soil and not just 1" as stated in the video. Then build a solid base up and then an inch of sand to final level to set the pavers or stones. This board product they are selling does not replace the 4" base, and the board will flex and fail causing your patio to become uneven.

Cheaper yes but it will hold water and rot away eventually. These foam pads are designed for this purpose and won’t retain water as well as allow water to drain through the multiple holes.

No. Per the manufacturer these do not work for point pressure applications. Such as four tires holding up a few tonnes. The sand underneath will shift out of place.
