The one kid he raps about became 'famous' for actually making a bit of a dent in people's sympathies during the refugee crisis here earlier in the year (not that it's anywhere near over now). Many people drowned, but it seemed like that one picture of him lying on the beach was all that got people worked up, and even that not that much. Hence him feeling the need to make a song about it. It's a great song that I wish had had more impact than it has, but I can see how it'd be rough first thing in the morning. The last verse has some really pointed lyrics - the (then current, now former) prime minister referred to the refugees as 'a swarm', and there's a piece of shit outrage-peddler called Katie Hopkins who called them cockroaches. The fuck of it is, I would like to think I'm relatively aware of current events and definitely in favour of e.g. taking in refugees and so on - but I don't even know if Ahmed is the kid's real fucking name, or just a John Doe for Lowkey's lyrics.
