28:15 I think the decision to make a command center is a striking example of Maru's absolute confidence that you mentioned earlier. The man is so confident he can deflect this fight that he's prepared for what comes beyond, and spent 400 minerals on a CC that won't immediately help him in this crisis.

Although I have played some StarCraft 2 like 15 years ago, I am new to watching matches. I am slowly beginning to understand what is going on. It is just amazing how much happens simultaneously and how much depth there is to these matches. Watching Maru is a pleasure. He reminds me AlphaGo the first AI to ever beat the best human Go players. Both seem to have a very precise grasp of not just how to win a battle, but what is *exactly* enough to win it, so the rest of the resources/attention can go elsewhere. Truly amazing to behold.

35:00 I get it Lowko. I think it’s because we grew up with StarCraft. And since both buildings give the beefy units, Battlecruiser and Carrier, our mind associates them interchangeably. 😂

28:15: Wow, that was a crazy good fight for Maru. 59:45: Really looked like Maru was gonna pincer Gum's army here. Sieging the reinforcing Tank and going in on it would have been great. Instead, he let himself be pincered. 1:02:15: Targeting the Tank there would have killed sooo many SCVs. 1:02:57: Gumi sending in the SCVs before his Tanks were ready was... a decision.

While mirror matches may not be the most popular, I think it's great to see some games from time to time. Plus TvT between top players can get really intense.

To be fair, Maru has also played his fair share of 'unique' builds, he's not at all a stock standard Terran like say Innovation or more currently Clem or Cure. He's not as innovative as Gumiho of course but he does pull the occasional rabbit out of his hat every now and than.

I'm surprised to hear everytime that there's less viewers for mirror matchups, I wonder why is it so... This was a uberBANGER of a game. And, as for the game itself... Well, it was just Maru playing with his food. Seems like he knows how to play and Gumi is a noob. This just puts Serral in perspective. Absolutely amazing game. Thanks, Lowko!

@@oshawott4544 Oppressive/uninteresting metas do seem to crop up a bit more often in mirror match-ups, giving them a reputation for being less varied and having more-abrupt, less-satisfying conclusions. They also tend to be subtler and more technical, requiring deeper knowledge of that faction's mechanics and units in order to appreciate and making them less accessible for more casual or faction-focused viewers. Having said that, the mirror match-ups are usually just as varied and easy to follow, and even when they aren't, there are still bangers amidst the bleh. I mean, at the most recent Katowice, the "Cyclone Wars" meta broke TvT enough that even the commentators were complaining, but there was still a couple incredibly entertaining series in there.

I think some people watch more Zerg videos, some people watch more Terran videos, and some people watch more Protos videos. So, when it is ZvT it gets the Zerg fans and Terran fans, but TvT just gets the Terran fans.

Those early anti-armor missiles in that first game were shockingly synergistic with the battlecruisers - which makes sense, given how fast they fire, but still. Wow.

I had that happen to me in a game where I was base trading and lost all, and I do mean all, my SCV's. I still had some production buildings as well as an Orbital left but I couldn't make a single unit because all my Supply Depots got destroyed and I was supply blocked. The only thing you can do then is to sacrifice army in order to pump out an SCV to then build a Depot, but obviously I couldn't do that.

Battlecruisers are one of the most "Deathbally" units in the game. If you reach Critical Mass its incredibly hard to loose. Just getting to Critical Mass is extremely hard because they take ages to build and cost ALOT

Honestly I like it better this way. Just like when every Vtuber does an "ara ara" it gets stale if it happens everytime. This way its like playing the lottery, you never know when you're just going to win.

I am honestly a big fan of Sky Terran! If TvT is what it takes to see that, I want more of it! My personal favorite is fast+cloak mass Banshees with some Vikings if I see enemy air. But hey BCs are great too.

Its funny. I left the video once I saw it was tvt. Later in the day, i forgot and clicked on it again, and I realized it was tvt again. I left the video going while i looked for something else. Then, as i found something else, lowko said people are leaving the video right now. He really knows his audience.

TvT is one of my favorite matchups. It could be a side effect of knowing Terrain units so much better, but it feels like it allows for a lot more variation that is viable at high end play.

a yes another example of maru beeing behind for literally over 95% of the game, still defending with 2-3 bases for over half an hour against 6+ base economy, like an absolute mad man and somehow making it look easy. like it was never even close... I would be surprised if he hadn't done this exact thing for literally a decade... that man is so absurdly good, especially in TvT

Can anyone explain why in game 2 Gumi didn't just make a few SCV's from the Orbital he saved in his main and just remake his production there? He had lots and lots of money and was only building them in one spot at a time. That didn't make any sense.
