Actually, Serral used this build from the first game vs Maru. The attack is built-in. He contaminated the factory several times to slow tank production. It will straight up kill if you don't have a starport to deal with the overseer.

Im honestly still surprised Contaminate isnt used all that often. Slowing down production and upgrades just seems so... incredibly useful. And its not like Overseers use their energy all that much. Would throw off so many timing attacks and soften opponents due to them not having as large or strong an army as they could have otherwise.

Coming back to this comment and thinking about it further, Using Contaminate more liberally would even give more justification to getting the overlord speed upgrade too. Gives Overseers even more survivability to squeeze out even more value out of everything they do. Just overseers zooming in and out of enemy bases stalling the means of production. I'd imagine this getting incredibly frustrating and force the enemy to spend more on defenses and/or attention they'd otherwise spend elsewhere. I seriously wonder why Contaminate isnt used more.

zerg unit is pretty OP if u play them right. creep spread is pretty much half maphack and then with infestor burrowing around the entire map zerg player pretty much have the potential for full maphack. With vision of your enemy units whereabout makes the game so much easier to play. u can easily climb the rank with just lings+bane+infestor play. Unless terran has unlimited scan or rich enough to invest lot of raven or observer for protoss.

You stop Serral by playing zerg basically. He can beat toss and terran at any day of the week but is zvz has become his major weak point. Funnily enough, all other zerg players have a lot more problems vs the non mirror matchups than Serral. I still remember Reynor getting wrecked in the GSL he attended, as an example. And yet Reynor nowadays seems to have Serrals number (well probably literally, considering they are on the same team :p ) @@awrawrwar

Oh, irony, took second but I remember a world before having to adjust to aspies. He is probably hard to even cast: a lot of players struggle just keeping up with economy while defending, much less attacking, I can just about manage a two pronged attack, but take your eyes off your army for 2 seconds and it's gone. The style that got everybody tilted to start with I think was the hatchtek roach avisher, throw so much shit at them that they have to pull everything back to defend, a desperation strategy that works, but very expensive. In long games Terran static builds can run you dry. He's getting scarier now he's playing a more nuanced and economical game. Still, Creator killed him with a very basic void split, the main weakness of the toss being it's very propensity to pucker together into a nigh unstoppable death ball. Fear not, terries soon to be imba in whole new ways.

It should be possible with perfect marine splits and target firing. AI level, over 9000 APM micro. Also perfect EMPs and snipes from ghosts, perfect unsieging to avoid ravager biles, perfect splits against parasitic bombs ect.

Terries are lazy, and medics furnish greater value in the early game, even going mass raven, before seeker was nerfed (about the time I quit playing t never great with them anyway), you still kicked a medi or two before going into 6 or 8 starports. Medics can evac scv, drop death on you enemi worker from behind, 4 ghost can nuke the ramp from you main to the nat, then lay 3 overlapping on your production and kill every structure. Stacks vertically, Raven just screens, used to be a point defense drone chingas.

@@SD-jf7nb Except all you need is one raven. It's not like that will cut into your medivac count all that much, especially in the mid to late game. It will save you needing to scan to find burrowed units or creep tumors though. Having at least one raven really should be a 200% must in a TvZ matchup, honestly.

There should be a way for the caster / commentator to have quick enabling of picture in picture. An idea to enable this intuitively is to have the ability to hover the mouse over the mini map and hold down a certain key, let's say SHIFT. As the mouse hovers over a part of the mini map, you hold down SHIFT and a small picture in picture screen appears in the corner of the screen, let's say top left or middle left. This method, you can see the main battle on the main screen, and then a picture in picture of a drop or harassment. Lowko, pls pass this idea onto the developers. They listen to you!

you know i dont really know that much about SC2 so take this with a grain of salt, but Serrals build first game felt pretty map specific. The roaches allowed for a very clean and easy defense against the early marines and probably also took Cure by surprise. Maybe that little bit of shakyness is all Serral needed to be able to greed for the Gold base early on and snowball it into an income advantage. And then you have a lot of disposable income combined with a cheap and straight forward army that you can just throw at your opponent to contain them, ensuring that they fall further and further behind with time. I might just be analyzing this with the power of hindsight which makes this suspect at best since the scenario playing out exactly like that definitely biases my opinion of it, but i thought it was incredibly cool to see.

I guess there is also something to be said about the advantages of playing something unconventional game 1. Its a bit of a gambit, if you win with it, the opponent is definitely shaken up atleast a little bit. Even if these guys are seasoned pros, noone is 100% tilt proof and your mindset matters a lot in a game as high-stress as SC2.

Battle cruisers with a single raven and they are all toast. Thats a hard pivot generally but tanks, a raven and blueflame hellbats work fine as well.

Battle cruisers take 64 seconds to produce so you would have to plan it in advance and if the zerg has 5 corruptors then the BC is dead. Tanks and hellbats would get destroyed because it takes 3-4 shots for a tank to kill a lurker and broodlords can target fire hellbats because broodlords auto attack does 20 as well as launching broodlings.

Know why Serral can experiment, successfully, with build orders that aren't "standard"? I think it's because of total mastery over defensive fundamentals. If things go wrong, it's okay! The game is not lost. That is what allows him the confidence to see the "weird" strategies through.

Serral defends his creep spread by pushing roaches prior to clicking his creep spread. This distraction causes the Terrain to react by quick picking up and moving then going back to w/e they are doing instead of coming back after to stop the creep spread. Genius.

Re: balancing based on Serral: reminds me of when Blizzard tried making overlord speed cost 50 instead of 100 a few years back. Serral immediately started getting it every game to great effect, and I'm pretty sure he singlehandedly got them to go "oops nvm" on the very next patch.

The ultras on g1 were on point and completely deliberate. Serral read the game perfectly and knew Cure had no resources to transition into ghosts, so the Ultras have a window where they can just slam the door shut against an army or pure marines and tanks.

People truly underestimate how scouting is one of Serrals absolute highest polished skills. He literally knows everything his opponents do at almost every point in the game. It's beautiful to see. As Lowko said Serral sees things as fast as him and he has perfect vision at all times.

And what should replace them? Queens are the most important zerg unit. Only source of early game AA (save for spines, which can be easily dodged without queens) and are needed to transfues the hatches for additional produktion. You would have to basically redesign how zerg work and that is simply not needed, as the races are ballanced quite well. And we have a terran worldchampion right now, so if anything protoss could do with a little buff.@@yeyintnaing7823
