I love seeing the pros and I love seeing players who don't really know what they're doing. I feel like my games aren't that interesting, I'm not absolute garbage where everything I do is wrong, but I'm certainly no master either.
@Cowclops2 жыл бұрын
I think its important to point out that many pro level matches are boring too and involve no back and forth, just one game ending attack. They're just less likely to be cast so it seems like there's less "boring pro matches" than there actually are. I've taken to enjoying streams of matches that are a little bit higher level than me. I can't replicate the insane millisecond timing stuff pros are doing, but watching diamond league players as a plat is like "Hmm, I think i can aspire to pull that build order off, because it doesn't require 600 APM, it just require better unit control than I currently capable of BUT could improve to a point where I can."

Glorious! I keep thinking hey Lowko give them some credit for just not knowing stuff, and multitasking looking at the minimap and seeing things is actually quite hard, but then they obviously watch your casts because they sent you replays so some knowledge of build orders - at least the first three structures or so - seems plausible. But maybe they just don't know why that's important yet because in bronze it really isn't. The moment you do figure it out you end up in silver getting trampled on by cannon rushers. Good reminders of my first games before I found a B2GM series and started to understand "macro" a bit. And if they're having fun - and nobody ragequit - that's what matters!

I feel like most players don't even know what macro and micro are. They just build what they want when they happen to have the resources for it. These games are a beautiful example of that. When i first started starcraft 2, fully saturating minerals and gas is something i ALWAYS did before expanding (if i did at all) because X/X number is satisfying.

Hey lowko you should consider feature pros on their birthdays! My writing and arranging teacher started classes this way, featuring random composers and musicians for the first few minutes ice cube to Beethoven. It’s great because you’d cover lots of pros you otherwise wouldn’t. In my class sometimes there were tons of good choices and other days there were only a few obscure musicians and the variety was interesting.

I remember many years ago, I was still going through my ranking verification and I ruined someone’s perfect win streak… I’d like to claim that it was because I was brilliant, but it was mostly because I was lucky and my opponent didn’t expect me to research burrow. I built the expansion early, trained up a crap ton of zerglings, roaches, and hydralisks, then burrowed ALL of them on the ramp leading to my base. My opponent sent his whole army to wipe my base. Right as his siege tanks were crossing over, I unburrowed my entire army, killed the tanks, and force marched to his base. I had eight hatcheries in a command group and a ton of minerals and gas coming in, so I was able to replenish my losses constantly and react to what he was building. His base was overwhelmed in short order. Didn’t even really have to micro since he never properly blocked his base ramp.

I play starcraft 2 so unoffen(?) that despite playing since release I’m still bronze/silver league (I only got to gold twice) But now im thinking that I should try and do the opposite of my first thought (for example, I thought mana should have made an extra base earlier on, but I thought top right first, and realized it might be too common for it to be safe, and thought bottom left would be better for whatever reason)

Well then again, around 2014-ish I got to platinum in 4v4’s, mostly being carried, but it was fun since during all of the matches it was the same people changing teams per round

In the first game, it's possible that blue waited and just built stuff, because he thought that red was trying to eke out a win by attrition - just hanging out, hoping for some SR, when the opponent can't be bothered hanging around any more. That kind of thing tends to happen at lower levels - along with the pre-emptive "GG", where you hope that the actual winner will tap out first so that he ends up losing the game.
