@@jesushuerta9878 If the price is no concern then SU-9 is still a better/more detailed sounding DAC. But D30 comes pretty close for less money so it's probably a better bang for the buck. Congratulations on the channel. I bought this dac thanks to your review. But I've been thinking about the amplified headphone output. For a few Sundaras, does it make sense, or noticeable improvement, if I amplify it with a 50s topping? Thank you very much in advance for the reply.

Awesome review, very detailed and easy to grasp even for a newbie like myself, thank you! I was wondering about the Loxjie D30 based on audio science review looking for a half decent/affordable dac (200/300€) since I already have a Topping A50s amp (lowbie setup with Hifiman balanced Sundara/desktop use only)... Why not the A30, because I had one S/N 2007 (one of those at "risk"), and had it exchange for the other mentioned at no cost... I'm still not sure which way to go right now between a Modi multibit including shipping from US for 300 (EU here), or a Loxjie D30 (used as dac only) for less than 200 and a Monolith Liquid Spark dac by Cavalli just to be able to switch "flavor" (both way easier to get in here comparatively)... Cruel dilemma, since I don't intend to change cans until I'm able to get something close to Audeze lcd 2 or maybe Ananda... Any advice welcome! [24 Hours Later Edit]: You know what they say, sleep on it... Since the shipping cost of Schiit is that high, I decided to skip a step and order a Gustard X16 MQA DAC... Slightly more pricy at 400 + with free shipping, but all in all, closer to the valor of the product itself (decently placed in the AS charts). Prob solved. I still owe you one, without you, I wouldn't have look further than the Loxjie without your Modi multibit suggestion!

I was wondering if it's better to use grounded electricity since the network cable and the power entrance is build like that?
@iiWiReviews
@iiWiReviews 3 жыл бұрын
In most cases yes, it's better. Grounding usually improves protection from EMI interference by draining all EMI to the ground. In rare occasions, grounding can cause some sort of broom (bad grounding in the building basically) and only if you have that kind of problem you should consider not using grounded socket.

This is an excellent review. I’m writing from the US. May I ask for an opinion? You’ve got a huge amount of experience with DACs. I have a secondary system that needs a DAC. It consists of Barelli PA-5555 single tube 12ax7 preamp and a vintage McIntosh power amp. My speakers are Revel F36. The speakers are super revealing. Maybe too much so. Thanks.

Thanks! Since you're in the US and you're already using (and I suppose liking Bifrost) I can't think of a better device than Multibit. Some of the other DACs may reveal more micro details here and there but I can't think of anything that can match its sense of space and rich timbre.

There are two types of switching power supply units: regulating, and simply switching. The second one appears as a typical linear type, but that works on high frequency instead of 50Hz. You can find a lot of capacitors after it, and thus sound is the same to a simple linear. Unfortunately, D30 uses the first type. Yet more thing. As I understand, Loxjie uses both ESS and AKM DAC IC in the same product depending on availability. I can see images on the Internet. This is really bad news.

In comparison to the Schitt Modi multibit, is the difference in SQ significant? Does the Multibit actually add more depth to the SS and space between instruments? I'm looking at that one as well. Actually looking at the multibit, as well as XDuoo TA-10R with the AK4493EQ to use as a stand alone dac and headphone amp as well. Looking for a solution in secondary system using a small 40 watt integrated and an Emotiva A-400z. Toys, toys, toys. According to Schitt...the multibit (I suppose once broken in) only takes a few minutes of warm up to sound good, while others seem to say it should be kept on, either way, if it actually provides a nice sound for music as well as movies, the simplicity is preferred (no screen needed).
@iiWiReviews
@iiWiReviews 3 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't call it significant but Multibit has its own thing going on that no other Delta-Sigma DAC can replicate. It adds that feeling of notes being big and spacious, and seem more present somehow. I like that so I would still choose it over D30 if lack of features is not a problem. Also, I would just keep it turned on at all times. The first time unpacked that effect is the worst and it needs a day or so to sound good. Every other time it's turned off is a much smaller difference, and it's certainly usable that way but it still takes an hour or two to hit 100% of its performance. Will you notice that or not, I'm not sure, depends on how critical you and your system are. :) I took it several times to other places and most people noticed that its sound improved while we were listening. One of the guys told me afterward: "I didn't want to offend you and your taste at first but I thought it sounded clogged and cramped... but after 15-20 songs it started to sound better and better, and I ended up quite impressed".

@@iiWiReviews Excellent, excellent answer, thank you. A 1-2 hour warm up is reasonable, heck, our ears ability to make sound more pleasant varies throughout the day, at least I notice that. As to whether a significant difference, I find that with most dacs whether cheap or expensive, the difference can be subtle but important. Where the difference lies is in some nuance. For example, I may first feel the glare, then hear it when I focus on it regarding the Loxjie D30 vs Lavaudio D600 (D50s clone). When I listen to the Topping D70s mqa, the difference in SQ may be subtle at first until I let myself allow the music to just flow and I realize it is more listenable, enjoyable over the less expensive dacs, even though at first listen, alot of people might not notice differences. Personally, I think in listening to music, there's more to it than just hearing with your ears, I think music affects more of our senses in ways that havn't been addressed or measured. Hence why we might say "It feels right" in addition to "it sounds right". I think I will give the multi a shot as I like the particular attributes that you mentioned. I am willing to give up some detail, some resolution for a more natural and spacious sound among singers and instruments. If it adds depth, that's a plus too. The Topping D70s is overkill for my less expensive gear although it does sound good. On the Hegel, there is no clear winner whether I listen to its' internal AKM dac, the Topping D70s or my Marantz CD6006 (the cd player has less gain). I can prefer one over the other with different songs, passages, all are enjoyable to listen to with noticeable differences but enjoyable nevertheless. If I were into hi-rez and mqa, I would keep the Topping, but for the time I have to actually listen to that media it doesn't justify the costs. Too many CDs and I enjoy youtube for music as well as podcasts, bluray and I am just starting to stream. Add in the environment and low to low/moderate listening and differences become less obvious. For what I have the Hegel is overkill but I like it...alot. As I do the smaller Keces E40. Also, I tend to favor brighter sounding speakers that add a euphoric ether for lack of a better explanation. A Focal 807W and Triangle Plaisir Zetas (which works well with cheap class D as well as more expensive gear). The Focal and Hegel pairing can be intoxicating. Thanks again for your honesty and efforts in providing assessments for audio gear.

Pozdrav i sve najbolje.

@iiWiReviews 3 жыл бұрын
Time se zaobilazi Windows konverzija i dobija čistiji signal, a DAC će uvek pokazivati originalni sample rate fajla.

2:58 I think you should be able to upgrade the fuse, but after I read the manual, it doesn't mention and/or specify what typ and/or rating of said fuse that D30 uses. Weird Not related to this video; It's true that you can upgrade the stock PSU if your DAC/amp uses bog-standard SMPS unit to Linear Power Supply (LPS). Moreover, even changing the DC to DC cable that connect the LPS to the device is beneficial sometimes. If your devices uses AC inlet, chances are, they're using fuse inside. If so, try to 'roll' it like changing tubes on tube amp (ofc with the same type and rating), and maybe you'll be suprised! :D
