Dawn pro is warmer and smoother but not as precise, dynamic, and resolving. I personally prefer this one.

I haven't tried it yet but I plan on trying a SFP product soon. It achieves complete galvanic isolation of network. In theory it is a good thing but I'm not sure how much it will be heard.

Tone defeat usually bypasses tone controls, but current buffering remains (it doesn't switch to passive attenuation that has problems on its own). This preamp, like most modern models, don't have tone controls at all so it's basically in tone defeat mode by default.

Thought that my current setup lean to neutral detailed sonic in a nearfield setup, if were to tame some high frequency harshness at higher volume, would you think this preamp will work, between is it zero noise at surgeon level if I plug in this preamp? Currently I'm not really looking for upgrade, but just different sound at different mood at different time :P

You have to reach back to power it down, there is no stand by mode. I tend to leave devices like this on all the time. Physically braking the power every day is more stressful for electronics than keeping it on.

I have been pondering upgrading my dac (currently Eversolo A6 running Neutron Player) into Dynaudio Evoke 20, and I was looking at Gustard R26, but I worry that R26 may be too warm sounding for the Evoke 20. This Holo DAC may be exactly the match I'm looking for. Thank you !!

If you like calm, fuller, warmer sound then go for the DH80s. If you like it more lean and analytical then S9 pro plus.

Pozdrav. Ima ali šta će bolje da zvuči zavisi od DACa takođe jer ta dve veze imaju drugačiji način komunikacije. Coax veza uz podatke šalje i klok koji ih raspoređuje (sinhrona veza). USB šalje samo podatke a klok obezbeđuje DAC (asinhrona veza). Pa poređenje ta dva postaje pitanje koji uređaj ima precizniji klok sa manje šuma - strimer ili DAC. Treba probati oba pa čuti. Grubo gledano, što je DAC jeftiniji veće su šanse da Coax zvuči bolje jer mu strimer sve daje na tanjiru. Što je DAC skuplji to će USB više da izjednači. Kod najboljih DACova će se na kraju okrenuti na to da je USB veza bolja.

imo yes, they are. The dac is behind me when I'm using it, so it's not too disturbing, but in my single room apartment it *must* be switched off at night if I want to get any sleep. It really depends on your plans for placement and use though. Would I want it sitting on a desk in my peripheral view? Nope. Would I find it irritating if I liked to listen to music in very dim to no lighting? Most definitely. Would it catch my eye too much if it were directly in my line of sight while in use, even in broad daylight? I'd guess, yes. Thankfully I don't have those scenarios in my life but yeah, the lights are pretty obnoxious.
