When Michael Ponzio experienced sudden paralysis on the left side of his face, he was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy. Michael went to see John Leonetti, MD, a Loyola Medicine otolaryngologist who specializes in the treatment of this condition. After Dr. Leonetti performed a facial nerve stimulation procedure on Michael, he started to get movement back. With the help of Lisa Burkman, PT, a Loyola Medicine physical therapist who specializes in facial paralysis, most of Michael's facial function has returned. For more information or to schedule an appointment, please visit www.loyolamedicine.org/find-a... or call 888-584-7888.

I know exactly how you feel. I’ve had Bell’s palsy twice. Once when I was 14 and second time at 17. I am 20 yearsold now. Ive fought through serious depression. Covid lockdown made things worse. Im still fighting to be the best version of my self since. Its permanent in my life now. I am also running now because I gained intense weight because of my depression. I am feeling abit better now… with that being said. Bells Palsy depression needs to be more aware. Alot of people have suicidal thoughts at the lowest points. But because its not recognised enough its not taken seriously.

I know how you feel I had it when I was 14 too sometime my face is normal. I feel like it's permanent it keeps coming and going. I am over 30 years old and my right eye is smaller than my left one. Hopefully they find a cure for it and I used to use traditional medicine and it did help me a lot and I stopped using for several years now I think it does not want me to stop the traitment

I've had mine since 2008, and I've been miserable since! I was in Sierra Leone, West Africa when it hit me, and took the prednisone religiously as prescribed, but it didn't help much. I'd kinda resigned myself to thinking this is it, when I saw this video. I've saved the number, and will try calling this weekend to see what my options are.

Same. Since December 2015. And it hasn’t gotten any easier. I feel like I will never be myself ever again. To be stuck in the lowest you have ever felt about yourself, for YEARS, and having nobody around you that knows how hard life has been and how much of your life has been taken away from you, I feel so alone and nothing will ever give me back the years of not being able to be that mother I knew I would’ve been. When I was diagnosed with Bell’s palsy on the very day I went to the hospital only to spend nearly 48 hours in labor. The very first day I started to experience warning signs (every single warning sign to be exact), I was already due to see my OB that day (who even had Bell’s palsy once, but nothing registered with her even though I have EVERY warning of what was about to happen!), i was then given a migraine medication and due to be seen by her again just two days later since I was so close to my due date and had extremely high blood pressure, so when I called later that day and the following, I was told just to rest and she’d see me the next day for my scheduled appointment. That appointment never happened and neither did the appointment that she had rescheduled for her canceled appointment since she was called in for emergency cesarean for both my original scheduled appointment and my rescheduled appointment. Then it was the weekend, and by Monday, I had gone into labor. After I nearly a week spent 5 days trying to tell my Dr that something was wrong and I needed to be seen right away but was
