Please be aware that Bell's Palsy is NOT temporary for everyone. Everyone's journey is different as well. Some people have a lot of pain, some do not. It is not simply caused by stress either. I was 3 when I was diagnosed, and I've had it pretty much my entire life.

MrsRestel RestelZone you are the first person on here that I've met that seems to have had it as long as me. I was diagnosed with it at age of 10. I am now 35.... I didn't fully recover, only about 85% of my facial muscles recovered.

My son has had Bell’s palsy since 2006, our local doctor wasn’t interested in helping said it wasn’t that serious, but my son was devastated, it completely changed his personality, and was bullied at school, he still has it today.

So disturbed to see and hear so many people have been diagnosed with BP, especially after the Covid vaccine! I know several people got it right after the vaccine. It is so real!!! One man I know for years who’s been healthy as a horse even died shortly after the 2nd shot; another teenager lost his ability to perform sports after the jan; Gavin Newsom got the Bealls palsy too, although the fake news media is trying to cover it up 😩

I’ve had it for 12 years I got it when I was pregnant with my son it’s painful to be around others because they can’t help but notice it . I wear sun glasses to cover it but the face is the first thing people see so I don’t like to be around people because I always catch them starring it hurtful . I’ve been avoiding pictures ,videos party’s for years . Bell’s palsy is a permanent on me . I went to the doctor The consultation was $400 the doctor told me I needed surgery but it’s $40,000 cash I’m trying to save but that’s a lot of money and I have my 3 kids so I’ll put that dream aside 😔 Anyways just venting.

@Mack Mealer I have it for years now, the side that got infected still moves but not that much compared to the non infected side. I visited a very hot country recently ( UAE) and the side that got infected literally became like how it was when it first happened to me. Couldn't move any bit or close my eyes. Now I'm kinda confused, can I still fix this since I can move the weaker side a bit? And I wonder why did the weaker side all of a sudden became so weak when I visited the hot country?

** I truly hope someone can read this & gain hope** but you WILL BE OKAY. I remember when I first got it.. I was super down and scared. But I knew eventually it would go away. Staying positive is the first step. I first got it December 13th 2022. Now it’s Jan 5th and I’m about 90% healed. Take your medication, take your b12, run hot water on your face (every single) shower, do face exercises, massage your face & stay positive. That’s what I did. Don’t just sit around and let it run it’s course. Doing those little things HELP TREMENDOUSLY.. If you want it gone sooner than later then you have to go above & beyond. I even got acupunctures done. You’ll be okay I promise. Hopefully this helps someone 💛 you’re beautiful!

My dad had Bell's Palsy and it isn't painful, just weird to not be able to move one side of your face very much. He just woke up with it one day and then almost 6 months to the day, he woke up and it was gone. His face was completely back to normal and it never happened again.

Jenny Q : About 20 years ago I was at a restaurant eating when the onset of Bells Palsey hit me. The next day I woke up and had trouble speaking and drinking my morning coffee,so I called my ex,who was an RN,and she happened to be 60 miles away visiting her parents. She heard my slurred speech and my other symptoms and thought I had a stroke. She left her parents house right then, came and got me and brought me to the emergency room, where they diagnosed me with BP. They prescribed the steroids and I tried taking them but they made me feel like crap,so I stopped after a few days. My BP lasted two weeks and then one day I actually felt my face returning to normal like when your arm or lag falls "asleep" and then you feel the blood returning to it or like when a novocaine dental shot wears off and you feel the sensation returning to your mouth. Well, this Saturday morning,11Nov2017,I woke up with BP again, not quite as severe, but none the less with the facial paralysis and not being able to shut my left eye completely.

Dont be discouraged. Keep your faith that you will recover. 90% is a very long way and its still a blessing! Have you tried acupuncture? I have Bell’s palsy AGAIN. I had it at 14, recovered in about 3 months, I would say I was like 95% recovered, there was times when my face would twitch and feel numb, and then time when I would make a certain facial expression and my eye wouldn’t open all the way. Now I’m 23 and have been having it for 1 month and 2 weeks. It really sucks. 100% would say it is stress related for me. First time it happened my grandma died and I didn’t want to show anyone how sad and hurt I felt, so I feel like me holding in my emotions is what caused it. And this time around I had a panic attack after holding in my emotions again, and the entire night my neck was hurting and I woke up with a numb feeling in my tongue and slowly throughout the day my face was becoming paralyzed

I caught BP while I was 2 weeks shy of giving birth. I was very Concerned about my smile. I did not want my baby to think I was displeased. However, after I took my meds I was back just in time to give birth and show my baby just how happy mommy is. 10 years later today, I feel like my hearing suffered, my face/ear still hurt from time to time. I often give myself facial messages to help. Also feels like anxiety brings the discomfort.

I was misdiagnosed with an ear infection and have suffered for 12 years. I didn’t leave my house for 3 months when it first happened. And Angelina Jolie had an opportunity to advocate for people like me, and squandered it by saying it didn’t affect her. That’s BS! She makes a living on her looks and you can’t tell me that waking up to half of your face being paralyzed “didn’t affect her”. I read her Vanity Fair story for that reason and I cried afterwards. She’s always been an icon, but she was such a disappointment for so many who suffer from this issue. Doctors know so little about this, and she could have used her celebrity to make a difference.

I am recovering from Bell's Palsy (end of week 2) and I started having acupuncture. There is no way to know if the acupuncture is making the difference or if I'm recovering on my own. However, I feel that I experienced a huge improvement directly after the acupuncture sessions, so I would encourage others to try it. I was a skeptic, but I feel so strongly that it helped that I'm commenting so that other people can consider it as an option. This has been upsetting and scary. If you have Bell's, stay positive, rest a lot, listen to your doctor, and consider acupuncture.

Mine was tied to Chicken Pox - and it took a year... then the return to function was only a little more than half. It really, really sucks to not be able to smile (without my hand pushing my mouth) anymore. I have to do a whole new set of facial expressions to communicate effectively. Steroids might have helped within the first 48 hours but there was pain with mine and you can't take NSAIDS if you do the steroids... tough choice. The problem is inflammation. Our diets and our environment is causing a near epidemic of inflammatory pain and maladies around the modern world. We need cleaner air, food, water and less stressful lives. Bells Palsy for 40 thousand a year is one warning sign. The other is all the joint pain that 40 year olds are suffering from.

For some people it is. I had an ear infection in April 2020 and I suffered from bells palsy because of it. It was very bad. My eyesight in my right eye became weaker and I wasn't able to smile or do anything with the right side of my face. I was on antibiotics and steroids for 10-11 days. I've made at least 90% full recovery. You can only notice I have BP if I smile wide, showing teeth. Other than that, it's pretty much not noticeable at all. Having said that, I am 23 so I probably healed a lot faster since I'm young.

I feel so ugly now and hopeless to ever have a love life or even look at people now bc I don’t want them to laugh at me(which some have in public). Damn why couldn’t this happen when I got really old…I don’t know how else to deal with this.
