After the night bus to Banaue, we arranged to go to the incredible Batad Rice Terraces, where we made a friend in a nice man called Vincent who guided us around. We saw the incredible scenery and I took a dip in the pool of the waterfall!

That month is the most generous for the weather with the best sunlight in summer despite the onset of monsoon season, hence the brightest sunshine in Batad (I bet your next day was a rainy day - a beautiful day is a precursor to a rainy day). The view of the rice terraces in Batad is really breathtaking. I went there 10 years ago. Seeing your video and your drone shots reminded me how awesome that place is. Hmmm...i just have to say, i need to correct you on that one...it is not a "different country" THIS is really what the Philippines looks like...not the busy street, not the traffic...its this and the beaches is what the Islands Philippines are made of(7,107 islands to be exact, lots to explore!). Loz, so beautiful, and your vlog did it justice. When I was in grade school, when the world was not made smaller by technology, we spoke in awe about the 7 wonders of the world. And then, we were told that the Banaue rice terraces would have qualified as the 8th wonder of the world - so massive, made manually by ancient people, who did not have engineering background. You would have thought that given the severe rainy weather in the Philippines, the terraces would have been severely eroded by now. Am glad you made it there with beautiful Sherran. Big love.

Sure, Loz. As always. One thing amazing with the rice terraces, is the manner in which they share, control and effect the irrigation system to meet the water needs of the rice fields, using gravity flow, starting from the top, down to the lowest terrace. I am sure it requires a lot of cooperation and consideration between all the different farmers that till these fields.

I think one of the many reasons why many Filipinos stay humble is because they live near so much greenery and sunshine. Here in NY, we have four seasons. As much as I like the 4 seasons in NY. There are more days of cold weather and we tend to stay indoors. This decreases the absorption of that natural Vit. D. I miss more summer & tropical months. In the Philippines, the sun gives you that Vitamin D and natural warmth. It feels fulfilling and exciting even when it gets sweaty. It is almost summer here, but it will end by September.

It's a beautiful (and I guess less-explored) area of the Philippines!!!

I've noticed that you didn't see most of the Mountain Province as Sagada and the area around that mountainous area are known for. You missed to see the most amazing land scape the mountainous north can offer. Sagada and Banaue rice terraces are just a tiny part of what that mountainous area offers. If you went back to Manila via Baguio instead of turning back you will be graced by the most amazing scenery and landscape you'll ever see, hours and hours of jaw dropping scenery along the way. The landscape and the scenery from Sagada to Baguio is just unbelievable, it's breathtaking. We travelled that road last December and we were just amazed, didn't get bored for a moment in the 5 hrs that we were sitting in the van. Anyhow, your drone footage of Batad rice terraces and the surrounding area is amazing, keep travelling and discovering the beauty of the Philippines.

I had the opportunity to see these amazing rice terraces more than a decade ago but it was somewhat gloomy when we were there and we stayed on the road stopping by the view points. Good thing, you guys hiked to get near the terraces. Did you see Thanos (Avengers: Infinity War) in one of the huts? 😂 Anyway, your drone shots and the time-lapse are the bomb. Good job, Loz!

It was the same for me when I visited Macchu Pichu - apart from the weather was so bad we could hardly see it at all! Gonna have to go back there at some point... Thanos was is in hiding - recovering well no doubt hehe. Thanks so much as always mate, ingat and mabuhay!!
