A remix of this wouldnt look out of place in a nightclub! This would be such a floor filler anywhere! Been listening to Otyken for a while now, found them randomly on KZbin while listening to The Hu. Pulse (live) and Altay are my other favorites from this awesome band. The lead singer is stunning both with her vocals and beauty.

It is speculated that the Otyken people are one of the ancient ancestors of the Japanese people. Don't tell that to the Japanese however lol. Unfortunately we Americans are a mostly a dead country in the cultural since at least!! Which lost our cultural heritage hundreds of years ago. Only the native Americans & Alaskan Inuit tribes have maintained that here. Great reaction to an amazing find!!

Haha, definitely they are not ancestors of the Japanese people. Maybe very far relatives (arguable). They are Turkic folks, ancient habitants of Eastern and Central Asia, then later of South Siberia. Maybe very ancient relatives of native Americans (10 or 20 thousands yrs ago).

OTYKEN is a group composed of indigenous people from Siberia. You came in on a good song of theirs. This guy is a throat singing master. Here, he's going extremely low, but he has a very broad range. The instrument she's playing in her mouth goes by many names throughout the world -- ( mouth harp / jaw harp / Jew's harp / etc) , though I am unsure of what name it has in Siberia. Other good songs of theirs are, "Storm", "Genesis", and the soothing "White Mountain". Oh, and almost forgot "Paradise Lost", which is a song about the sorrow of a displaced people (be sure to turn on the subtitles if you watch this one, great lyrics).

Jaw harp in Siberia is called 'khomus". Yes, this instrument is widespread around the world. Slavic "vargan", German "maultrommel", Indian "morchang" etc. etc. Wiki says that the Austrian composer Johann Albrechtsberger wrote seven concerti for this instrument. The names "Jew's harp" and "juice harp" are probably nonsense :D just a misspelling of "jaws harp".

Technically Otyken is a "Tribal Hybrid Traditional/Modern band" somewhat similar to The Hu from Mongolia....it's got a special attraction and almost hypnotic sound! Thanks, Peace & Respect from Canada

The Hu is way dif than Otyken. Both are awesome in their own way! The Hu does much more throat singing by all in their band.

I agree...throat singing with Otyken is also used (more in the background or as an add on) Check my recording of the Hu - I saw their shows both in Montreal and in New York in 2019...they were great!

I found them on Tik Tok randomly. Followed them immediately. Talented and unique but after awhile it gets a bit repetitious and many songs sound the same to me. Still fun and talented. But I can only listen in small amounts. Visually entertaining too.
