I run a Romeo 5 XDR and a Juliet 4 on my .450 build. I run the same Romeo 5 XDR, but a Juliet 6 on my 5.56 stuff, all at lower third. I can remove the Juliet if I want lighter, and will be doing closer work like in a thick woods. The magnifiers also seem to have fewer parts could be tougher. It also leaves me room for my flip ups, and of course my PEQ-15. It's just how I do it.

Just got my E3.2 11.5 upper. I am a big fan of the EOTech combo for sure.

I use the eo tech vortex 3x combo and I love it it’s not the best for magnification shooting but it’s enough to target identification and that’s exactly why I got it.

I’m running an EXPS 2-2 w/ G43 magnifier on my 12.5” middy SBR and I really like it, but lately I have been considering selling/trading it for an Elcan SpecterDR 1-4.

I never understood the love for magnifiers and red dot. It's just as bad as an ACOG with a piggyback and costs the same if you're planning to raise your ocl on your red dot

It just adds some versatility. Definitely easier to identify things with a little magnification.

You can take off the magnifier and just run the red dot. With an ACOG you're stuck with the magnification. That's why offsets or piggy backs are utilized with acogs. My eyes are 💩. Anything past 100 looks like crap. Being able to utilize magnification to identify targets is pretty handy. I typically use lpvos but those have drawbacks too. Use whatever works best for you though.

Let me make a suggestion...from a former professional shooter... start by establishing a standard; let's say iron sights, same ammunition. Shoot again, measuring for score, time, etc. Now repeat with each setup. You will quickly begin to see where each setup shines. Don't forget to address, cost, weight, availability, battery life, and ability to operate in inclement weather. If all this seems like a lot of work...then you could skip to the end and look at where the military places these setups. Scopes are for only a few designated marksman, red dots are for everyone, and the special people are issued magnifiers. So the only question left is? Where do you see yourself?

I appreciate the feedback, my goal was just to give a broad comparison for people out there who are considering each option. Thanks for checking out the video!

As casual shooters and protectors, we don't need the precision, skill, or attention to detail the professional shooter may have and enjoy.
