This is the man that saved September Sun. According to the Type O Negative, Pete didn't really want September Sun at first, because didn't really like. But Johnny, being the cool guy he is, convinced Green Man to keep it. Thank God. Thank you Johnny. That song is absolutely fucking legendary.

Favorite song by them. The piano really gives it's place. Wish Type O would've done a couple lighter sounding tracks like that. That's the type of sound that allows you to go to church and still be Goth 😂

One of the Masters of "The Slow Groove". I'd even say the spiritual successor to Bill Ward. From '93 to '04 I saw Type O Negative perhaps 20 times, and even at a point in my life where I *loved* Mike Portnoy hitting everything within a 15-foot radius, watching Johnny just made be rock back and forth in the *GROOVE*. ...and the vast majority of those shows were before I discovered weed! 😉

Pretty tight shit. Does anyone know what Kelly was using kit wise for the recording of Hallows Eve in 99' with Type O -? Just heard it, and the snare and his floor tom fills are really deep and sound awesome. I know he endorses Gretsch now

Can anyone tell me the cymbals he uses. ?????? which one, not name..I know high hats...but I see 2 crashes ( size?) a ride and china ??
@MikeAvinMusic6 жыл бұрын
Back when I took lessons from him I'm almost positive he had APX hats 14", 2 AAXplosion crashes 18" or 18" and 19" (he'd change it sometimes) and definitely a Chad Smith Holy China 18". The ride was a 21" rock ride but I remember him saying something about the stadium ride a while back so that might be what he's using in this video. This video's a few years old so I might be off on what he currently uses, I'd have to ask him.

slantyrock I saw him live near me and omg he is amazing what are you talking about here can do double bass with 1 foot. Just because you do simple beats doesn't mean you arent good you don't need to be neil peart to be good, I play just like him simple but sounds good. And there is a reason why he is a professional and you and I aren't.
