Thank you Mr.Montalvo for the demonstration. I like that you explain clearly and slowed the rhythm exercises enough for the viewer to get what was going on.

Omg, you make it look like magic... Unfortunately I had to sell my congas due to neuropathy from my cancer treatments just as I was starting to learn, but my Cuban soul is always beating to the rhythm inside. Loved this. Thank you!

I thank the good Lord I was able to lay eyes on this brother when I began playing percussion in the late 80s. Eddie, where ever you are man, let it be known that you were an inspiration to me. Out of all the great congueros out there during your time, you were the one I wanted to follow and learn from man. @The late Sabú from the Bronx Son. God bless you

Those 12 ppl that put thumbs down are haters. If you 12 are conga snobs take a look at mongo Santamaría.. unorthodox as hell and considered one of the greatest congueros and a pioneer. As the end of the movie Hitch says "Rule number 1 ....... There are none"

Excellente! Muchisimas gracias maestro. Una pregunta de principiante (por favor corregirme si estoy equivocado): A su derecha hay una Tumbadora, al frente un quinto, a su izquierda una conga. Ahora: que tipo es el cuarto tambor? El que esta mas lejos de el al frente suyo? Muchisimas gracias!

He does have records and videos, whole sets of clinics with other masters, for one to four congas and diff. Tumbáos o golpes. Try the Martin Cohen and LP sites you'll find a lot of the good stuff. You're welcome.

I'm just a particioner, not a professional conguero, and i could notice that two of the congas are tuned the same tone. Is that a common practice, or just for the sake of the excercise, with BTW is nice and spicy. Thanks Eddie

Hello LP ! I’m about to purchase these beautiful congas but they come with traditional rims , I wanted to ask what is the model of comfort curve rim that would fit these drums? So I can switch rims once I buy the congas for more comfortable playing , thank you!

Eddie With the highest respect because I’ve followed you many years l ask do you play with that finger upward. Is it comfort or give you a better open tones? Only asking because I’m trying to retrain some of my strikes in that sometimes when speeding up keeping my fingers fully closed hurt some of my tendons having to open up like that finger but loose the crisspyness of the open and sounding if not like a slap or just tinny

Telling beginners to gradually speed up is a terrible idea . They need to learn how to groove , and telling them to gradually speed up makes that take a lot longer. Dealing with young players who have the habit of pushing the tempo as they repeat chops patterns is a drag .
