where did you buy this oilsafe pump from? Any advice please? Can you share a link?

Hi Found this to be quite a good review. I have been using the oil safe product in a professional capacity for a number of year now, in my experience they are the best on the market. We have started to use the more expensive pump option, which has the ability to mount a filter to the pump housing - then you are not fighting vacuum when transferring oil. For us purists all oil equipment is dedicated to a individual oil grade, cross contamination is a pain to get out of your gearbox/engine and can have adverse impacts. When dealing with oils and greases your main enemies are always particles, dirt, and water. Always think about the potential for contamination when handling and storing oil. Typically it the stuff you can't see that is small enough to get into your bearings etc that does the damage. Regards

I use a cheap 5l garden sprayer - fill with the correct amount of oil then pressurize & control with the trigger. Does help to warm up the oil first though.

This is hilarious! Just what I was looking for too in the process of purchasing a transfer pump in NZ. You make an excellent point regarding viscosity vs hose diameter.

I appreciate your video. No good manual way to pump that stuff in. I wonder if there's a Milwaukee tool than can help. I know they make transfer pumps but they look like larger volume ones. I do have air tools but with my lithium powered tools being so light and effective it would be a huge chore to bring all that out and make a ruckus with that air compressor.

I use a 10 quid Laser Oil Suction Gun. It takes a few reloads (with the associated multiple crawlings under the car) and some muscle power but it is easy to clean and can be kept in a drawer.

I used to have one and oil poured out when you tipped it upright

Laser do a drill powered fluid transfer pump. Add suitable lengths of hose and an eBay NRV and it works well.. Struggles a bit with cold 80/90 though..

If you just pump it a couple of times the pressure will build up on the unit meaning that you don’t have to pump it a lot, once the pressure lowers you pump it 3-4 times until you finish the oil change but overall great video

G'Day Will Thanks for the review of those oil pumps, I think I might have to get a Oil Safe one for the Transfer box. I use a brass inline hose pump for my Diff's as I run Penrite 140, anything else just craps out (pump that is).

I had the Draper, and after time the inside part of the pump falls out.

I’ve got the draper pump and use it for all service oils. I leave my oils in the house before use and being warmer they pump really well from the draper. Just don’t tell the wife.

This was a great review, thanks. It'd be nice if there was something great for personal use though, I am still not satisfied as a DIYer. Lately the most infuriating thing is that the Redline bottles (holding 75w-90 gear oil) don't fit the pump style adapters that people often use. If I did use re-use an extractor or an electric transfer pump, then there is the issue of cleaning them after use to prevent cross contamination (how best to clean them anyway?) etc. FWIW as an American I quite enjoyed the silly American accent.

The axle is vented to atmosphere, so the bubbles will rise up. There's lots of bubbles formed when the vehicle is moving anyway.
