Just did a 3 inch exhaust in my 72 a few months ago. Only thing I did different was, I recessed my mufflers up in the rear seat floorboards for clearance. Took a whole lot of time, but in the end it really looks good. I just didn't like how the mufflers sat so low. Also dumped at the muffler Your car is looking very nice BTW. Inspiration....

Just gotta love this exhaust. Good video Matt. I agree that alot of the edges on the pipes should have been smooth. The set I purchased for HYDE was rough in certain places as well. Car is coming together bro.

I just bought a '72 Camaro a month ago and am looking around for different exhaust setups. It has single exhaust now but that's gonna change in the next couple of weeks. BTW, yours sounds great.

How do these aftermarket pre made exhaust tubes (kit) fit to all the different header configurations lengths and sixes or like your set up and your headers that weren’t part of there original design before they were made. When you ordered them do they ask what headers you are using. What size ! What brand? About the collector. And what engine you have installed. Because seemingly if you had shorty headers you would need custom made down pipes. I guess I don’t understand how a premade exhaust system will work for a classic restoration since we all have different set ups. Can you shed any light on that. I mean does Hooker put multiple provisions in place for the variance and variety of classic builds? Thanks.

They offer different setups based on the motor being used. These are LS specific, so they work with any LS application. If you have a Big block or Small block, they offer specific setups for those as well.

Hangers are simple to fabricate. Weld a piece of metal to the car, put a rubber hanger on it, and weld a piece of metal to the muffler. Pre-built exhausts have so many random issues. Besides for the system being tested for power and sound, I would always get those fittings welded or at least V band once you know you like the sound.

Trying to figure out what size exhaust I should use for my car. 557 HP at the crank LS3. You used 3" exhaust for your setup, what were the reasons you went with 3"? Do you think 2.5" would be big enough for my LS3?
@Lethalgarage Жыл бұрын
I went 3” as I didn’t want to find myself wanting more power and having to change it again. I also have aftermarket heads and LT headers, so keeping it wide and open is a good thing above 550hp+
@foofighter6675 Жыл бұрын
@@Lethalgarage Ok, so basically what you're saying is above 550HP you need 3" below 550HP 2.5" should work?
@Lethalgarage Жыл бұрын
@@foofighter6675 it really depends on the application. If you all stock, opening her up at the exhaust will see negligible results

Trying to find out how they these mufflers compare to the flowmaster super 40s. I don’t want it loud.

Mufflers, what are those for? Lol. Also working at a muffler/ mechanic shop for years. It might be best to have someone fab a bracket and use the rubber hangers to mount the last section of pipes. If you do a dump at the mufflers. You get the sound. But probably won’t sound as good as coming out from under the vehicle
