not a dumb question at all.. LS1, 2 and 3's are all aluminum blocks and the casting are on the front of Cyl 1

@masoncampos70434 жыл бұрын
4.8 and 5.3's are the same block. They are marked 4.8/5.3L the Only way you can tell is by looking at a piston or the the stroke of the crankshaft

Wouldn't you be able to tell by measuring the pistons or internals some how?... I bought a engine a while back like in 2013 and I was told it was a 5.3 that was in a 02 ss camaro but 02 camaros ss don't come with 5.3 that I know of anyways recently I've been curious as to wtf I bought back then lol but all my numbers are gone and been machined off literally smooth as butter with the block but I also have read that when engines are built and machined they remove the numbers and my LS1 engine I got is cammed has edelbrock machined heads with the shops name engraved on the heads and found out they are their lightnenfire type heads supposedly and was told the engine had 435hp at purchase with no paperwork I'm just curious as to how I can be sure and make sure its not a damb 4.8 now lol I got it with a t56 transmission and ecu tuned and all for like 4800 back in 2013 now after a while I'm here wondering if I got screwed or not... =/ but its been a great engine for me and obviously has a little kick for what it is just confused as to wtf it is
@Coverman663 жыл бұрын
wow ground off cast numbers? even in the back of the block?
@chevecrazy454ss3 жыл бұрын
@@Coverman66 I'm to the point of im about to redo the engine bay and paint it but I will be taking the transmission off to check when i do that that's my last option but yes everything's smooth on the engine block from what I can tell no numbers that can mean anything for me to be able to tell anything so far last hope is the back side inside the transmission side of the engine if nothing there then I'll be totally lost
