New subscriber here. I’m doing an Ls swap on my 2nd Gen Firebird, I got my fuel tank setup from “Tanks”, it’s the same setup you have, I’m curious if the existing stainless steel fuel lines are sufficient? They look to be the same size as the hose that is supplied with the tank…

Thank you for your videos. I’m currently working on the same set up and this video has convinced me to run the aluminum line instead of stainless steel because it’s easier to work with. I am going to use the 37 degree tool tho

Would it be about the same price to run rubber hose and push lock fittings? I would think that aluminum would stand being exposed to more heat than rubber. Great job by the way. Thanks again.
@BadLuckGarage5 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the brand of hose and fittings you use. Keep in mind that you can’t just use regular rubber fuel line in a high pressure fuel injection application and also that modern fuels with ethonol will deteriorate standard rubber lines as well.

My 69 Corvette came with a fuel line and return line all the way to the mechanical fuel pump. How does the filter regulator work ? is the supply line and return line going in with only one line out? I'm doing a frame off now with Holley sniper fi and Tanks tank. I was thinking I could use my new stock fuel line for supply and a new stock fuel line for return. I was thinking I'd cut off flared ends and add a section on each ends with an fittings. What do you think?
@BadLuckGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes the vette filter regulator is a deadhead setup. So you only need a single line running the front of the car. Whether or not you use it just depends on how you want your system setup and how many lines you want running to the fuel rail. But it should be noted that the vette filter/regulator can’t handle anything larger than a 255 pump without being overrun.
@williamsilva16693 жыл бұрын
@@BadLuckGarage Thanks for the quick response. Also I have a 69 bb Chevelle and I just mounted the vent to the body right above the tank. Its been that way for years with no problems

A few months after the DRNova was finished we actually ended up re-routing the vent and rollover valve to the back next to the fuel filler as we were noticing fuel smell inside the car. It seemed to have fixed the issue as we’ve been driving it this way for almost two years now with no more fuel smell. It probably just have to do with body seams and airflow under the vehicle.

The regulator on Ebay shows the fuel pump connected on the return line. Is that right? Doesnt seem like that would be right.

Bad Luck Garage, this way any fumes stay at the rear and should be a easy clean way to run it. Also with the fuel pump, did it have a ground strap that’s on the mount? Looked like it did in the video. I wonder if leaving it free floating will cause any grounding issues with it? Could probably tack a mount to the lip of the tank easily “with that nice new welder” 👍
@BadLuckGarage5 жыл бұрын
Yea the vette filter/regulators have that ground on them but there’s no charge there so not sure why. I think it just has to do with thier original intended application in the C5. Corvettes don’t have many areas to ground being fiberglass so it probably serves to tie grounds together in the factory application. 😉
