I've been doing some googling and I can't find anything about those trucks with the 28 inch radiator having electric fans. Was yours a 34 inch?
@lsx_clark79826 жыл бұрын
SniderTron 3000 i just robbed the rad from the same truck I grabbed the fans from so I do believe it is 34in. Because it was bigger then my 2002 rad. But if you look at your rad cradle it has the bolt holes to accept the 03 and up rads along with the fans. Which is kinda neat.

Yes the kit come with 2 pins that you have to plug in into your ecm low fan and high fan so 1pin is empty and thats the only 1 you want to connect the 2nd pin calls to remove and existing pin which connect to your a/c condencer some how that pin connect to your a/c and transmission overdrive so if you disconnect that 2nd pin your a/c and transmission are going to start acting up

I wouldn't even hesitate. My truck had about 237k on it when I swapped it. But, if you want to do a quick check, pull the oil dipstick while it's running and put your finger over it to check for blow by. If the engine is worn, it'll puff a good amount. If it's just a little, I wouldn't worry about it. These LS motors are super resilient.

I forget his name but he's building a LSA tahoe on you tube and works for RPM motorsports. He did tune, built motor, long tubes, electric fans, pump and injectors with e85, and then the LSA swap. After each upgrade, he dynoed it and adjusted the tune. With the electric fans he picked up a lol over 10hp. Also, performance trucks fourm is addictive. I started over there about 2 years ago, put it to you like this. It made me buy a 03 lm7 truck.
@SniderTron30006 жыл бұрын
Yeah, HighPSI TV I think. I found him from John Doc. I've thought about doing an LSA, but the Ebay turbos are getting so good and still so cheap that I've been thinking about doing that. Especially since I just got home from a race against my buddies 2017 Dodge 2500 Cummins. We both spun and I stayed on his bumper the entire. I need more power lol
@jordancomeaux68886 жыл бұрын
I wanted to do a turbo build but just put it at the merge of the y pipe. Problem is it's my daily now so I can't take the chance of it not running when I need it to. More then likely I'm going to just hit it with a 150 shot, BTR stage 3 truck cam, long tubes, 4.10/trutrac and maybe one day a D1SC kit. I've already got the cam kit and stall. Long story short I can respect anyone to messing with these because I've dumped a lil over $4000 and I haven't even began any of the cool stuff.
@SniderTron30006 жыл бұрын
I was also thinking about putting a turbo right at the y pipe because it seems like it would have such good velocity there, but I haven't checked if I'd have enough room to tuck one up there without worrying about it bottoming out. I would love to do a D1 but I can't afford the 5k for the kit lol And funnily enough I have a bunch of nitrous express stuff in my cart on Summit. But, I just don't want to keep refilling bottles haha

Whats up bro, I want to do the fan swap on my 02' sierra 2500hd 6.0 but i need to know something and hoping u will know the answer. I got a "BlackBear" tune 7 months ago, i drove a couple states to get an in person (real time) tune. When i do the fan upgrade and need the tune to activate is BlackBear (Justin) the only person that can set that up since my orginal tune came from him or can any shop set that up for me? In other words , the ECU is not specific to BlackBear because he tuned it 7 month ago right? Anyone with the software can still program it? Just not getting any reaponce back from blackbear and seems it eiuld be really inconvenient to be stuck with that onr option. Please advise, thanks

Unless BlackBear locked the tune, which isn't very likely, anybody with the tuning software should be able to take care of it.
@silentbravo6 жыл бұрын
He doesn't lock the tunes, anyone with EFILive software can modify the tune. Actually the software is free, just need someone with the handheld (autocal or flashscan v2) to program the PCM. You could just ask him to add the e-fan parameters into your tune right now ahead of time. He put the e fan settings in my tune from the start, as I have plans to add them at some point.

Well, shoot lol It's been a little while, but I only remember one green wire and one yellow wire. I guess your best bet is to test the wires

That's best case scenario, going from a non flexible metal fan to electric fans. But from a plastic clutch fan to electric, it's probably closer to 5-10hp

thing I want to point out is that your carport roof is made with 2x4s.

Some trucks came with a smaller 28" radiator where the LS1 fans will work. However looks like you have the larger 32 or 34". Love the channel man Subscribed! Could you talk about rebuilding the trans in a video. I have a heads cam silverado with 200K mile stock 4L60e. I wont personally rebuild it, but when it does go out I would like to know what parts to get for the shop to upgraded it not just rebuild it stock lol
@SniderTron30006 жыл бұрын
Yeah, this is the smaller radiator. The measurement is of the radiator core, and mine is 28 1/4". The LS1 fans are like 24" wide. I had to do some googling to make sure things were right, but everything checked out. And, I took my trans to a guy to get rebuilt. Maybe someday I'll try to rebuild one but this guy always gives me a good deal.

do both fans run at the same time when it reaches temperature or one fan runs on temperature and the second runs when ac kicks in?
@SniderTron30005 жыл бұрын

question, what is the purpose of some forums that say to pin into the pcm the green wire and the blue tapped into the ac wire? i installed mine that way i like to have 2 fans on low and 2 on high or with the ac on, any suggestions?

30hp?!? As measured on the right foot dyno, yes?
@SniderTron30006 жыл бұрын
Nah, I stole that number from the engine masters test of fans. That was the difference in hp between the most and least parasitic fans. A clutchless, steel flex fan I believe vs electric fans. This would probably free up about 5-7hp

yunghogg88 what size is your radiator?
@yunghogg886 жыл бұрын
34 inch
@SniderTron30006 жыл бұрын
Mine has the 28 inch, and this was the most common e-fan swap. Trying to appeal to the masses with this one and still improve my truck lol
@yunghogg886 жыл бұрын
Whatever works man lol me personally i like the look of the whole efans covering the radiator and bolt holes lining up to where shroud went.

The only thing i didnt do is use a harness or pin anything to ecm. I just used relays n wire. So fans stay on at all times while engine is running, but works fine. Check out my video on my 230/236 cam thats my project truck shows the fans n relays
@cruzfernandez45543 жыл бұрын
The $150.00 could be used to get a new radiator instead, the wire harness is so simple

@turboracing80164 жыл бұрын
Chris 16 have you checked the tune? Check which temperatures the fan is set to turn on and off and change the temps if needed. And if it’s not the tune then I wouldn’t know.
@josephgiannini61746 жыл бұрын
um its a vortec engine not a ls1.......2 different engines and if you want better fan response use pusher fans not puller fans installing fans in the engine bay shortens fan life....bmw has been using pusher fans for a long time...it just makes sense
@SniderTron30006 жыл бұрын
The FANS are LS1 fans. And pusher fans won't work on this truck without cutting the core support up. By the way, the truck 4.8/5.3/6.0 have the same architecture as an LS1/LS6, etc. Heck, I have LS9 head gaskets on my other 5.3 because they can support boost better being an MLS gasket.
