Yeah I don't see a lot of rusty cars here. Usually a few spots in the usual places like door sills, but that's about it. Really rusty cars mostly only come with negligence here. Like the poor old 50's American thing I always see parked in someone's driveway. It's rusty and it's just been sitting in the rain for months. Like at least put a tarp on it dude.

+unaclocker You do know you can diy one from a kit, right? Less than 300 bucks usd can build you one. That's dirt.

I live in South Africa, for about $350 you can buy a complete localy built ECU that has all the features a Megasquirt has and more, including but not limited to wide band closed loop lambda control, full sequential injection and ignition, 8 general purpose outputs that can be configured on any value the ECU reads or sends out and digital display outputs. We even have ECU's that go for as little as $180, that will run just about any engine you can think of, including rotaries. So in as far as awesomeness and quality goes we have a wide choice locally and the only reaon they aren't more widely known and used is because of where they come from.
@bandwagon2408 жыл бұрын
+Francois Roux That information needs to be spread.

Try Perfect Power's XMS system, which is the top of the line ones. We also have Spitronics which are more middle line but lately have been adding features to compete with the former but maintaining their prices. Then we have Dicktator, which have been used in aeroplanes because of their absolute reliability, they aren't so feature rich, but some of the fastest cars in our country still run these. Disclaimer: I'm not affiliated with any of these companies, I just think they deserve more exposure than they are getting.

I would think drilling and adding a bolt to the cam gear would throw it out of balance and cause a vibration in the engine.
@darcy38988 жыл бұрын
I was thinking the same thing, I reckon you could use a counter weight of some sort though
@chefdan878 жыл бұрын
Darcy Maybe, there would have to be spoke directly opposed to where the first hole was drilled so it could be balanced. "Edit" Just watched that section again, and a counter weight could be added on that pulley, wasn't sure if it was a symmetrical pulley and not one with a odd number of spokes. They better hope that bolt holds on tight or they might have a "killer dowel pin" issue like the 12valve 5.9 cummins engines.
@mightycarmods8 жыл бұрын
This isn't a formula 1 engine and we're referencing a tried and tested setup that's been going strong for over a year, it's not ideal but it's definitely done to a budget and works!

Hey guys..... Air to air intercoolers are more like heat-sinks.... biggest is best... especially if you are running a too-small turbo, beating the shit out of the air, and heating it up, the more surface area the big cooler has, the cooler the air will be, which in turn cools exhaust temps, reducing under bonnet temps, etc... Also the weight of the cooler stores the cold, more weight, more stored coldness.. what about leaving the big one on, and using it as a water-to-air cooler core, and install a water to air under the bonnet? Check pressures both sides of the cooler too, no point losing 100 degrees in temp, while simultaneously losing 10 psi boost.... Remember, turning up the boost on a turbo that small to counteract intercooler restriction will push you up and right on the map, increasing turbo rpm (which dulls response up top) and highly likely into a decreased efficiency area of the map, further increasing air temps, and air volume, further increasing intercooler restriction, while also increasing exhaust back pressure (primarily against the exhaust wheel) reducing overall system efficiency, using more fuel per hp, causing you to have a heavier car anyway... not to mention increased flow vosticies on the internal plumbing... Or, just go get a borg warner s300-sx-e or similar, (maybe even an s200 sx-e) so as to not heat the air up as much to begin with? SHIT!!! Aircon condensor???? WHAT?!?!?! wait a minute, you already have a pre-mounted water-to-air heat exchanger, and you are going to REMOVE IT??? Dude...... duuuuuuuuude..... Shame really, there looks to be lots of room for a water air core behind the battery...

The Haltec ECU, plus labor to install and set up, is worth more than 2SEXY. I love it XD

He's not lying about the giant intercooler. My 8"x15" intercooler keeps my truck's intake temps lower than it was when it was NA with just a cold air style intake with a cone filter.

And the amazing thing about Haltech is they'll tune your car remotely for you if they have experience with the build. I always wanted to try building and turboing an older Jeep inline 6, reason theyre a massive bullet-proof torque monster, so if you can build the motor so it can rev and then add boost and tons of fuel you have an intense amount of power.

When you run it into a wall, pull it off, put it in a 180 and go and do a skid. Wise words from Marty!

First off. Congrats on 2 Million! Also, if you watched the Kouki Conversion video. Then you would know that this was recorded a little while ago. So, the whole Willy Wonka joke was not on purpose.

"I think it's a really fun time to be around this kind of stuff, because you can use modern technology to make old stuff perform way better than you ever thought possible, and a lot of those components are portable like you buy ls1 coils and you buy a haltech 750 you can take it with you to your next car, thats probably worth more than this car but the point is you can learn you can put it on you can make it better you can have that experience and enjoyment and go and use the car and when you run it into a wall, pull it off and put it on a 180 and do a skid" - Marty
