@@TomsTurboGarage I did so much Tom, good video, not going too much into the extreme details but kept it interesting. Also the amount of care and detail that went into Thunderbolt...wow! I mean seriously that thing could of rolled off the assembly line looking that good, you built a very special car and you drive it, she ain't no trailer queen. I've also seen comments about forced induction etc. and honestly...I can't see that being needed as the LS3 has gobs of torque and enough horsepower to make it scoot. I could see some actual tuning bring the numbers up though. I noted above that the most interesting car doesn't have a turbo in the "turbo garage" but I think you agree...it's such a good car as is...but yeah she could use some professional tuning to extract even more in a reliable fashion.

Outstanding video and what a well-built, well-engineered car. Your care and skill and expertise really show. The car really looks great, too. The color, handsome 15" wheels, and stance make for a super-attractive car. [I wonder if slightly lower gearing (numerically higher) final drive ratio would improve the acceleration without hurting drivability. With such excellent fuel mileage (with the current gearing) I suspect lower gearing might allow you to exploit the power to weight advantage with no negative side effects.] I really respect your patience and restraint in how you planned and built the car and for breaking the car in so thoughtfully and carefully. You're a real master builder. Great job!

No supercharger to be added or over extending this beautiful project any further. This excellent story has now come to an end and for the owner to enjoy!! Time for him to start a new "book" (project)! There are many excellent older and well built vehicles still in good condition, eg older Mercedes models, i.e. the w123 series. Problem is, their engines/drive train are outdated, not efficient, they're uneconomical and parts expensive and hard to come by. With what do you replace these old items with, what is available as a complete "set" in the form of an engine, gearbox, ECU and other accessories? The answers to these questions and an example built will really be astonishing and be appreciated by 1000's of car owners who would prefer to retain their old model, but to update with modern engine power and efficiency!!

@MasterFlopy9 жыл бұрын
+CJBMAGGOT94 Doubt you need that on drag slicks.. ''normal asphalt'' and tyre will almost never give you more than ~0.7g.. If you try to accelerate more than this wheels will spin. But drag slicks on special pavement will let you accelerate much faster. Accelerating at an average of 1 g is equivalent to a 0-60mph time of 2.73
@CJBMAGGOT949 жыл бұрын
Atis Bariss Still in a car this light with almost 500 horsepower and barely any weight over the rear it will spin, doesn't matter what tires or asphalt there is. Hence the reason they now make boost by gear.

Hey, Tom. i just wanted to say, thank you. I really have appreciated your vids, and especially this series in particular. I enjoy your approach, your thoroughness, and how well you layed out your plans and set your goals. I wish I had the time to undertake a project of this magnitude. at the moment I don't, so being able to watch projects like yours done in a manner I admire, is something I really enjoy. so, thanks again.

Great job Tom! The thing that impresses me the most is your level of detail and how factory the conversion looks.

Hi Tom, great video! I loved seeing how things have turned out. Somehow I have missed some of the videos between 3 and 13 so I'll have to go back and watch and see how you got to your finished product. I do have one question. You mentioned something about a spare tire and jack and wanted to know more about that. I have a 2006 Mazda MX5 that I love and use for my daily driver. In fact, it was partly your fault that I got that car. You inspired me with your videos of the yellow 1992 Miata that you got back in 2007. I'll look around for information about the spare, etc. Do you have video footage of the spare? Take care, Hal

Awesome Build. This guy is about as professional as it gets. I've acquired a lot of good tips and tricks from these videos to apply to my builds. I hope Mitch keeps on building and doing these videos.

I'm glad you took the time to enjoy the car over the summer. I was able to quit my job for the summer and just do car things with my pals. We fully stripped, assembled and tracked 2 S15 Silvia's. One street car with a SR20DET and the other is caged with an e85 fed 2J making just shy of 800. I'm getting rid of my 2014 Mustang GT Recaro Track pak for a very clean 97 RHD Enous Roadster S-Special (miata) that is on its way across the Pacific right now. It will make for an interesting first drive going from Vancouver back to Toronto. Now that Thunderbolt is sorted in its current state you should get in touch with the smoking tire guys for a feature on your cars. Matt just did a one take on a built up Galant VR4 and really liked it minus some unrefined mods to it. They travel often and I'm sure you can both cross populate viewers. KZbin loves popular channel mashups. I met Matt during Gridlife at Gingerman Raceway and he is a really cool guy.
