Just to say thanks for responding; and after watching your vids on bad hydraulic lifters I was glad the shop I trusted my '04 Corvette with recently, went with Johnson lifters to complement the BTR stage 1 cam kit (.613/.605) I showed up with. Dual valve springs, titanium retainers, etc.. I told him to pick his gaskets and lifters. I'm new to the LS game so I was kind of astonished at how much the lifters cost when I looked at the bill. After watching your vid and some others I'm glad he didn't cheap out on the hydraulic lifters. I went back to his shop recently and asked him what lifters he used, after watching some vids of guys engines getting really messed up by running cheap lifters coming apart or never pumping up correctly. I guess knowledge can be as powerful or MORE powerful than the engine itself sometimes because I'm seeing guys install "no name" lifters or no mention of the brand in their LS builds. I think you've already shown that there are fake LS7 lifters flooding the market. No thanks, I'll stick with Johnson.

The large company I work for likes to save money and time with what they call “dock to stock”. We make most of what we build but some stuff is partially machined outside and some parts are made/machined complete then assembled into our component. They like to think our vendors will be as critical as us but it causes problems. We end up pointing fingers among ourselves then find out we received it that way. We get occasional nuts and bolts from vendors with no threads. Can’t hurt anything but sure is stupid. It’s within tolerance.

I've got this picture in my mind of a guy doing this work w/ all these things to consider & being so far behind that he just cuts corners or in his confusion he uses wrong specs.... @victoramato46928 ай бұрын
I'm surprised you didn't put the cam in first to avoid banging the bearings up. And also, usually the first thing the ring set instructions say is " do not spiral compression rings on pistons". And you torque the rods all at once. Better to do one,rotate, one rotate etc. ...centers the wrist pin and checks for binding Incase of a tight bearing.
@powellmachineinc8 ай бұрын
#1 bearings are fine #2 If you know you know #3 I don't torque the rod bolts "all at once" Good try though.
