the best video on this subject I've seen so far well done. Someone who uses a torque wrench
@harveysmith1008 жыл бұрын
Thanks for that video, thumbs up and subs. Really clear to follow. Just to make it easier to any guys having a go at this, take the fan shroud off as well, its only 4 easy bolts, gives you lots of room then.

Yeah, no way my fan will come out with cowl in place. Had to take the front battery cases out too (UK model) to get cowl out

G'day Ishobie, just a tremendous amount of effort goes into uploading your videos from start to finish, really want to say thanks heaps for the tutorials, for me is a great reference point when working on my 100 series & come across something I'm not sure of and always come back to your uploads, great backup. A little off topic here on this subject but I'm wondering if you can shed some light on my attempt at rebuilding my Schwitzer turbo for my 4.2 diesel, I understand the variables involved

Well done, did this last year without any issues. Would love to see how to set the injection timing on the fuel pump of the 1hz!

Bought a 2004 79 series with the 1hz motor just this week. Greatest trucks ever made. Wanted something reliable that I could work on myself. I'd never touch one of those new v8's with all the electric mungo jungo in them. I'd probably need a degree in computers just to do an oil change.

Make sure when torquing the bolt that holds the Tensioner Pulley to the block, its done correctly, and no pressure is applied on it to lever the belt off. I just had a 10mm one fail on my 1HDFT (early 1HZ run 8mm diameter bolt) 120km into the Simpson Desert. Another great video! The part is about $20 from toyota and probably worth changing every 2nd belt perhaps.

Continued.. with this, obviously if the bearings have deteriorated & there is play in the shaft & making contact with the housing or the impellers have been damaged I would have professionals take it on but if it's just seals allowing bypass of oils back into the intake, are there kits available for me to repair this & if so, do you have an approx cost. Are you at all planning to create a video of this rebuild process in the future if you haven't already. Look forward to your reply cheers mate

Great video. I'm curious about something. How easily to the crank shaft and cam shaft turn with the timing belt off? In case one accidentally rotates either of them during the procedure.
@io786187 жыл бұрын
Great video as always! Please keep adding more!! My no 2 camshaft is a bit misaligned (approx 2mm off) and I would like to correct it. Is there a recommended way to turn the camshaft? Also I would be interested to know what did you use to lube the pivot bolt? Thank you!

If you go to 0:44 in the video and freeze it you'll see that there is even a bolt at the very end of the pump that is well behind the plate.

Another great vid and good timing for me too (hah no pun intended) as I need to do my timing belt, and associated seals.. are those all the seals that need to be replaced while youre in there? Importantly do you have to remove all your intake for this work? How did you stop the crank turning when you undid the pully?

@PowerModzOfficial12 жыл бұрын
no the intake can stay - i removed it for another issue - I'm making a video for that:) Use a wrench - the camshaft has a notched thingy on it like a nut - just fit the wrench over it and hold it. easy!

Hi, do you think its worth it to change to an electric fan for the radiator compared to engine powered? for 4 cylinder toyota motors like 22r and 2l-t. I am wondering about the air resistance and if it would slow the engine down much, however the weight of a larger engine like this it is probably negligible?

Hi Louis, Love your videos, they're great! I was wondering whether you have any experience with timing belt/water pump kits by Gates? I live in Israel and original Toyota parts for my HZJ73 are sometimes hard to come by and always expensive.
@PowerModzOfficial12 жыл бұрын
hmm, i dont think so - check Ih8mud - the thread i started - there is one bolt that you cant get at with the backing plate on - not at least on this motor.

The water pump I bought for my 1PZ has a metal impeller so they are out there. I hate plastic impellers.
@robertraman63073 жыл бұрын
Do you need to remove the backplate on the 1PZ to change the water pump?
@daviddelaney41063 жыл бұрын
@@robertraman6307 IIRC you have to remove all the timing stuff including the backing plate. I don't think there is any way you could access it without pulling everything. I did my water pump at the same time as my new timing belt and tensioner. I got everything from Cruiser Outfitters.
@robertraman63073 жыл бұрын
@@daviddelaney4106 🙏 thanks for the answer. I’m in north Sweden. The water pump is leaking a bit and the timing belt is older than 10 years so I’ll got a kit from euro4x4 but I need to get the oil seal for the backing plate as well.
