I remember when I was 10 I searched up on google "Example of a Symphony" and this video came up. I fell in love with this song and thought to myself how cool if would be to play in a symphony orchestra. Im now 14 and if I prove my self to band teacher I may have the chance to play at Carnegie Hall in my school's symphony orchestra and I hope we do something similar to this song.

This is much better than the recording at the opera house. The violinists' solo here is beautiful.

You know it's an exceptional piece when you like it. But you know when it's an AWESOME piece when your heart palpitates wildly when it's exciting yet you have this heavy, sinking feeling in your chest, the harmonies and nuances tugging at the heartstrings- in a really short period of time. This is an awesome piece. Bates has done well.

I like that despite the somewhat loose structure, the music is not too long, it presents quite interesting ideas in a concise manner, and I think that is a virtue here.

8:33 Originally when I first heard of it in their intro and outro of their 'The Firebird - Stravinsky' video, I was trying to shazam the intro (over & over again) trying to get to the name of that song, but everytime the app picked up the song, it played a completely different song, so then (in the comments of that particular video) I was going to ask what the intro and outro music was called, but then I thought, "I should look up "KZbin Symphony Orchestra 2011 intro" on YT", so then I did, I scrolled down through the videos and then I came across a playlist that stated "KZbin Symphony Orchestra 2011" by their official channel, so then I looked into it, and within their 3rd video I've finally found their sample for their intro and outro!

If anyone here is listening to the music before playing it, in measure 27, the time signature goes from 1 measure of 3/8, then 2 of 4/4, than 1 of 6/8, then 1 of 4/4, then 1 of 3/8. 2nd time that motif is played, it's the same but after the 6/8 measure it's a measure of 7/8.

This piece... is truly magnificent. The emotion that I intake is full of not just the feel of abduction, or flying through space. The solos paints an image that shows the boasting of the aliens to the inferior. Then as we slow, we notice we are not just cruising through space, we are taking in breath taking views we may never see. We see our universe. But our journey is interrupted with our speedily return to earth where we are dropped off quickly. They speed away, like nothing ever happened.

@Xenicus31 you're right, if you look at the original score most of it is written out and there wasn't much of improvisation done, but my comment wasn't referring to the improvisation aspect, it refers to the beauty of the phrase, line, and how the tone produced was so beautiful.

I loved this. Maybe because I'm a SF/F fan and this called to me, but I could see this large and living ship having adventures through space, through fun and adrenaline and slow sensual passes through star dust. I love it. It might not be the most traditional of stuff, but it calls to me and that's what matters. Not me specifically, but it getting to people. Only wish I could play an instrument for the improv stuff.

I like the idea of the electronic techno mixed in with Symphony. From this piece though it doesn't feel fused, its 95% orchestra and 5% electronic. would love to see a piece 50/50. I understand that each instrument has to play its own small part for the greater sound. It just seems with a electronic DJ board (what ever mason was using) just felt there could have been more from that side. This performance deserves whatever praise it gets, mostly it will be interesting to see where this goes.
