There's a couple of causes of the patients not getting in - some ambulance models dont actually have working rear doors (if they'll open with trainer, they should work for the callout), other issue is if you have a door locking script, you might need to get closer to the front of the ambulance before letting them in. I'll be releasing version 3.1 very soon which adds a whole bunch of improvements/fixes to these calls too, hopefully sometime this week.

Great job on the paramedic video! Being a paramedic myself I love these types of videos with LSPDFR! To answer your question where I work as a medic we would not transport a dead body-we would call the coroner to scene for transport. But also where I work we will work the cpr in progress call on the scene for 30 minutes with all the ALS drugs etc then stop if no change and call coroner.

To answer your question, no EMS does not transport corpses, once they are pronounced dead, the police secure the scene and wait for the medical examiner. There are exceptions of course. One time we had a patient have a heart attack in his driveway while shoveling snow and he died. we took the body because the whole family was inside watching and we didn't want them to see him lying there for an hour, while waiting for the medical examiner. Another time there were two 17 year olds driving 80mph in a 40mph during a rain storm. There was a sharp bend and the vehicle hydroplaned into oncoming traffic and a pickup slammed into the passenger side of their car. The teenage driver was fine but his best friend in the passenger seat was dead. The body was mangled and PD informed us that his mother was on the way (she didn't know he died yet) so the EMTs on scene took the body so the mother didn't have to see it. That happened before i became an EMT and the victim was in my grade.

FTM, it depends on certain situations, in most cases, the emts will transport to hospital if the patient stops breathing in their care or if there is any remote sign of life. If the patient has gone through more than 10 minutes of CPR and AED shocks before ems arrival, they don't transport, but call the coroner, and do a lot of interviews and paper work.

FYI EMS codes we use same as pd ,code 1 = hurry but response dark, code 2=lights only , code 3 = lights and sirens, code 4= out of service clear and available,code5=paramedic on board , wen we arrive we say we say back at the "barn "

ems involvvement with a death varies upon area. company and city laws ect.... out where i live coroner service is local doctors so there is no specific coroners department. the local ambulance service or a funeral home generally does the body transport

In some states, paramedics cannot call time of death. They have to continue cpr until they get to a hospital. A physician must call time of death.

There are so many different protocols for taking cardiac arrest victims to the hospital, we will still take them unless there is no chance of getting them back such as blood seeping to the bottom of the person (if they are on their back blood will flow to the back and cause visible bruising) or if the person is in rigor mortis meaning they have been dead for a few hours, if there is a mortal wound (ex. Decapitation), or if they have begun decomposing the person is no longer even a patient they are a corpse. Edit: Oh and I also forgot that the victim being cold also complicates things there is a common saying in EMS that "They aren't dead until they are warm and dead" Also nice save at 0:10

When pronouncing someone dead will depend on the rank of the person on the ambulance at the time and they usually take the body to the ER for a doctor to make the final call and then they will notify the family and the family decides what to do with the body.

I worked at a hospital for a while, I remember a DOA came in his ambulance, she decided to drown herself at the beach. She had no cloths on, the nurses tried to get her heart going but she had been dead for to long. So it's case by case. I have seen several dead on arivials.

Code 1 is normal response non emergency code is lights no sirens then code 3 is a rapid response for a call it varies but I know some of the codes the luxury of having a scanner to hear calls at 1 point.

I heared from a colleague in Germany that they had a child who had a heart attak and revived CPR for 4 1/2 hours and in the end lived. (In Germany the emergency doctor decides how long CPR is performed)

In most cases the EMT's and Paramedics will always try to revive them and take them to the hospital. Occasionally there are obvious signs of death (decapitation, rigor mortise, etc.) that lead to just calling the coroner and police. Great video!

Depends on the EMS system. In many parts of New York, paramedics will make resuscitative efforts for at least 20 minutes using all the same interventions and medications an emergency room would use. If the patient remains in an asystolic heart rhythm (flatline), then they are pronounced on scene. The majority of cardiac arrests are pronounced on the scene in my experience. Obvious signs of death just mean we don't even attempt to resuscitate.

Not driving with due regard to traffic laws. Also return to hospital wouldn't be code 3 would most likely be code 1 unless the patient was critical. Paramedics can't legally declare death has to be transported to hospital or call medical director for verbal confirmation of calling TOD

Due to the fact EMS/Fire agency are governed through NIMS (National Incident Management Services) they do not use codes. Codes in the ems world is known as when a patient is in cardiac arrest or is having an episode. So we dont use 10 codes or none of that. Atleast at my dept. We use just, responding or on scene or en route to whatever hospital or available. Just an FYI. Some big city depts will use them however most places do not.

Where I am from, you must radio the hospital and speak to a doctor/medical director before they will allow you to transfer medical custody to a coroner. There's specific criteria to be met.

My dad is a paramedic in NJ. So... EMS can't pronounce a dead person. Only a medic or a doctor can do that. And the Paramedics basically just leave the person there and wait for the coroner or funeral home. There has been many cases for my dad with DOA's. And he just calls coroner.

Dylan Smith There are different levels of certification of Emergency Medical Technician, or EMT. It varies by state, but there is typically EMT- Basic, EMT- Advanced, and EMT- Paramedic.
