I often talk to a friend at our golf course who played D Line at Florida St for Coach Bobby B. He has told me several times that the Transfer Portal was allowed as a counter to Saban stockpiling players to develop them through their time at bama or plug in in case of injury. I guess it was simular in the past to making schlorship limits to 85 players in response to Tom Osborn hording player at Nebraska in the 90s.

Don't care if that was the case or not. I will say that stockpiling and not being able to keep that stockpiled talent on roster from year to year with minimal effort, is exactly what did him in. This man is probably coaching another 5 years if the transfer portal, NIL, and one time free transfers didn't exist.

Maybe he has built his internet brand. People have a lot of misconceptions about NIL and how it works. NIL is heavily attached to social media and the amount of followers an athlete can build. If he has a large pool of followers, he can use that to secure deals. That's how Angel Reese, Livy Dunn, Flo'Jae and others have made millions of dollars.

There is a handful of college athletes making millions. Mason isn’t one. Flo isn’t either. NFL is a better option for him. As a fan, I would love all players to do 4 years. As grown man, I say move on when the money is right.
