2006 LSU was an interesting team. They lost some future NFL'ers (Addai, Whitworth, Kyle Williams) didn't even win the SEC West, came up short in their big showdowns with Florida and Auburn....... but still got MASSIVE poll respect in November. Crazy to think a 2-loss team that finished 2nd in their own division and didn't even play in the SEC Championship Game was ranked #4 going into the bowls and finished at #3.

SEC was and still is loaded.

They were so loaded with talent but Les Miles teams tended to underachieve and drop a couple of games that they weren’t supposed to for no reason at all. (Well, one reason was poor game management and another was predictable offensive scheme)

The two losses: at the time #3 Auburn and the eventual BCS national champion Florida. They were clearly one of the 3 best teams in the nation towards season’s end, and ranked top 3 and top 10 nationally in total defense and offense, prospectively. And as you can see by their demolition of a very good Notre Dame team that year, easily one of the best rosters in the nation that year.

This was the best team in the nation in 06. Better play calling vs Auburn, mistakes vs Florida in 06 and not kicking Ryan Perrilloux off the team in 08 cost LSU 3 consecutive National Championships.

This is the only college game ive seen of Jamarcus Russell but woah I can see now why people talked themselves into taking him 1st overall. what a bazooka arm

Statistically speaking...this was JaMarcus Russell's best game. Which isn't saying much since this was his 3rd season as a starter. But Al Davis saw this game...and foolishly used the first pick on him.

JaMarcus Russell was a star in that game then was the complete bust in the NFL walking away with 30 million dollars plus I wish I could do that what a bum in the NFL

2006 ND wasn’t as good as everyone thinks they were anytime they played good teams they lost. Michigan loss USC loss LSU loss None of those games were even close
